Chapter 21

Josephine groans raising her head from her pillow, when did I fall asleep? I was on the phone with Phoenix and I guess I fell asleep at some point during our conversation. I hope I didn't worry him. What time is it anyway? She feels the side of her bed for her phone. Her finger brush against it and she grabs hold and brings it before her, she presses the power button. No response, must be dead. I'll text him an apology later. She slides off her bed and shuffles over to her desk. Where she fumbles with the charging cord. Come on stupid cord, she yawns and plugs it in. 

Her screen lights up. She blinks several times and rubs her eyes, and that's why I don't go on my phone during the night. My poor eyeballs. She looks down, "It's only 1:45 in the morning!" she shouts, "Screw this I'm going back to bed!" she stomps back to her bedside grabbing hold of the blanket about to climb in when she flinches, What's this? she glances back at her door. Her eyebrows knit in confusion. I could've sworn I felt something.

She ruffles her hair, "I must be half asleep still." she lifts her blanket, "My bodies just playing tricks on me." she moves to lay down when she suddenly feels off. 

"Stop it with the tricks body, I just want to go back to s-"

"ARLO!!!!" Elaine shouts, Josephine whips around. Elaine! She rushes out of her room and into the living room.

"What is going on in he-"

"Josephine!" Elaine alerts, Josephine's gaze lands on Elaine arm she runs to her grabbing hold of her arm.

"What happened?" she asked as she activated her ability a very weak silver glow lights up her hand. My ability isn't working like usual. Josephine lets go of Elaine's arm deactivating her ability. 

"We were attacked by one of the men who attacked Seraphina earlier." Elaine informs.

"What? Why?" 

"Hey you three better shut the f*ck up!" John shouts, "I'm trying to sleep!" they turn to him and he register's the situation, "What the hell is going on here?"

"We found the assailant." Arlo states holding up the person by his shoulder, "Can you believe this guy? He actually had the balls to come back for her." Arlo explains and slams the assailants head against the ground, John walks over standing behind Arlo.

"Gonna need you to speak up now." Arlo says, "Who are you? What do you have to gain from this?"

"What did you do to Sera?" John interrogates.

"You're not getting anything out of me." responds the assailant.

"Look here, you better start talking or I'll stick this knife up your ass!" John threatens. Josephine looks around feeling uneasy, Elaine glances over to her.

"Josephine, what's wrong?"

"Hold on we're missing something here." Arlo states. "Someone of this caliber" Arlo's voice fades out of Josephine's ears, as she glances back toward Sera's room.

"Elaine, stay with John and Arlo." Josephine tells her.

"Okay, but what're you going to do?" Elaine asks.

"Just going to check on something, don't worry about me." Josephine says and leaves the living room. She open's Sera's door and steps inside closing the door behind her, she glances to Sera still unconscious bringing her hand to her mouth. Arlo's right someone as weak as the supposed assailant couldn't have possibly taken Sera down by himself, she glances out the window. What is it we're missing? Suddenly the window breaks apart, acting on instinct Josephine crosses her arm in front of her face.
