Chapter 5: Hospital

Monika POV

I gently open the door-

"O-oh! I...uhh..MC! Monika! Yuri!" Sayori stands at the foot of her bed, a long rope in her hands. It's tied into a hangman's noose. I'n the shock of the moment MC releases his grip on his school bag. "What the fuck!?" MC walks up to Sayori. "I-it's not what it-"

"Like hell it's not what it looks like!" MC shouts across the room. I can't believe this! Sayori wouldn't do something like this. "Jesus-...Sayori..." I run my hand through my hair. I look at Yuri. She looked like she was in full shock that she couldn't even say a word. I poke her cheek to wake her back up. "Oh!" Yuri slightly jumps.

Sayori drops the noose on the floor. "MC..." Sayori was holding back tears. "Why haven't you talked to anyone about this?" MC seemed furious yet concerned for Sayori's well being. "I-I don't want to waste anyone's time..."

"Y-You're not wasting a-anybody's time." Yuri taps Sayori on the shoulder. "Yes that's right! We all just want be happy like you've made us." I go up to Sayori showing a weak smile to hopefully cheer her up but it didn't work. "You...you really deserve to be happy.." MC pats Sayori's head. "But in the start, you need to talk about this and get professional help!" MC kept telling Sayory she needs help ASAP but she didn't listen.

There is a short pause. All is silent, aside from Sayori's sobbing. "I....I was about to do it, MC..." Sayori hugs MC. "I'd have never seen you again!." Sayori's tears were already drenched on to MC's uniform. MC hugs Sayori back. "Sayori....could you imagine if I'd found you like that?"

"I-I-I...." Sayori visibly has no idea what to say. "Sayori, listen. It doesn't matter what you are going through, you'll always have  a reason to stay with us!" That was my attempt on comforting Sayori. I dunno if it worked. "Y-yeah that's r-right! Even if there's o-only one reason w-worth living for y-y-you." That was also Yuri's attempt on comforting Sayori. I can feel that she doubts that it worked just like me...

"Y-you guys...." Sayori releases her grip on MC and backs away. "We know it'll be tough, but we'll be there for you! No matter what." MC proudly smiles hoping to receive a smile from Sayori. "No don't..." However Sayori isn't too sure about this even though it's what's best for her.

"Now listen to me. You need to talk to somebody professional about this." MC's face turned serious after saying that. "And we're not taking 'no' for an answer, Sayori."  

"I don't think I-I'm ready..W-we can go another time..." Sayori forces a weak smile on her face and looks away as if everything is okay. "Not a chance. You seriously need professional help, as soon as possible. We're leaving now" MC holds both of Sayori's hands. "I....I don't-...I don't know if I can.."

"S-Sayori, do i-it!" Yuri convinces Sayori. "For us, if not for yourself.." MC gave Sayori a warm smile. She sniffles, wiping away her face with her sleeve. "O-okay.."Sayori finally accepts. "Come on, let's go."

"MC...the club meeting.." MC turns around facing Sayori's bedroom door. "Screw the club meeting! You're more important to us than that." Sayori nods and we all take a step outside of the door. Sayori closes her bedroom door. "T-this is what's best for me, right?" Sayori stares at all of us, expectant of an answer.

MC answers Sayori by nodding. 

at the hospital

We all three were sitting down in the waiting room outside of the doctor's office, patiently waiting for Sayori to return. I'm anxious. My phone buzzes quietly. I remember about the club. The text is from Natsuki. 

Natsuki: Where are you?

Monika: I'm busy.

Natsuki: Really, Monika? Please don't tell you've got cold feet about the poems or something.
