Saturday Morning June 26th
Midoriya's POV:
It took a while to tell Todoroki the whole story, starting with Kirishima's weird behavior Thursday after school, and ending with me curling up and passing out on a bench, in the rain, like an idiot. I had to stop a few times to gather myself, I really didn't want to start sobbing again. It was bad enough that silent tears seemed to constantly stream down my face. Todoroki was really quiet throughout the duration of my story. He just listened to me talk and placed a hand on my knee or shoulder every time I stopped for calming breaths. It wasn't much, but those little touches helped. The slight pressure was just enough to keep me grounded in the moment.
"...and then I woke up in your bed," I finished, forcing a weak chuckle.
I glanced over at Todoroki's alarm clock. 5:35am. We've been sitting here for a while. Todo still hasn't said anything...
I looked over at him and he leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He had a strange look on his face, I expected pity, but that's not what it was. I couldn't really place it. I thought I was good at reading his expressions, but I had never seen this look before. It was like he was struggling with something.
He was calm when he spoke, "Are you sure Kirishima didn't just spend the night? He is one of Bakugou's closest friends, and it's not like he's the only friend that has ever crashed at Bakugou's overnight. I've even stayed over before."
"I know the evidence isn't overwhelming, but you didn't see the look on his face when I asked him if Kirishima spent the night. That, coupled with the way Kirishima was acting Thursday after school and the fact that Bakugou said he was 'still in the bed'. He could've said 'he's still asleep'. I'm sure you didn't sleep in Bakugou's bed when you crashed there. Also... the marks on his back..." I took a shaky breath.
"Midor-"
"I've been so blind. They disappear together all the time and the way Kirishima talks about Bakugou... with such adoration. I used to think it was just because he thought he was so cool, and Kirishima always talks all of us up, that's just how he is, but... it's different with Bakugou. When I really think about it, he talks about him the same way I do..."
Todoroki looked away after that, "I know what you mean. I've actually noticed some other things, too, but I always brushed it off as something else. However, now I know, you must be right." He sighed, "I'm sorry it turned out this way, Mido."
"Ha, yeah, me too. I just wonder how long it's been going on," I said looking down at my lap.
My question hung in the air for a few minutes before the silence was broken.
"Alright," Todo spoke, "so what's the plan?"
I raised my brow at him, "Huh?"
"What's the plan? You showed up at his house, confused the hell out of him, got very noticeably upset, then left. After calling him Bakugou. Which sounds so weird coming from you, by the way. AND, you haven't even looked at your phone in..." he looked at the clock, "almost 24 hours. So, what is your plan?"
"Shit," I pulled my knees to my chest, put my head down on them and grabbed my hair, trying not to calm down. "Shit, shit, shit."
Todoroki crawled over, sat beside me, and started rubbing my back with one hand. He took both of my wrists in his other hand, and pulled my hands out of my hair. "Calm down, Mido. It's okay, I'll help you figure this out. Just breathe. It's going to be okay."
I looked at him with a wide-eyed, baffled expression, "How is it going to be okay?! What the hell am I going to tell him?! I can't tell him the truth! Not now! I bet he's been calling and texting me non-stop. What-"
