Y/N: It must be some kind of sick joke, right?
Hinawa: I would've liked it too...
Scientists had analysed the ash used by the Joker, however what they found out mixed in it was something you would've never even dreamt of. It was ash recovered by Infernals. At first you thought it was only a mistake, but there was no way someone could mistake it for something else. The Lieutenant ran to tell Shinra and the Captain the news, while you looked outside the window.
Ashes from Infernal, who could be so insane to use them? After a while, you stood up and went to the office, where you met with Maki, Shinra and Arthur. While you were busy working on my sleep schedule, Maki received a call.
Maki: Hey you two!
Shinra/Arthur: Mhm?
Maki: There's a dog on a tree. Would you mind going and rescuing him?
Shinra: Rescue a dog? Isn't that a job for regular firefighters?
Maki: We get calls mistaking Fire Soldiers for regular firefighters all the time. Go on, me and Y/N will take care of the rest.
In order to emphasise her point, she pulled your ear, making you stir awake. You put yourself on work together with Maki, but your focus was stolen when she spoke.
Maki: How many days have you been having nightmares?
Y/N: One week before Kusakabe enlisted.
Her eyes widened and she looked straight at you. She was not worried, she was extremely worried, since the 8th was a family after all. Iris, Hinawa, Obi, Shinra and even Arthur were all part of this family.
Maki: That's an extremely long time! Have you seen someone? Was it always the same nightmare?
She panicked, but you stopped her ruckus by hugging her. Seeing her so sweetly concerned remembered me of your time with your family. Everybody tied by a red string, that now was broken because of you. You didn't realize Maki broke the hug and tears were running down your face.
Maki: If you ever need something, all the 8th is here for you. Don't forget it.
You dried the drops running down your eyes, before smiling at her and thanking her. However, your little bonding moment was interrupted by the bell ringing, signaling a fire exploded in the Ueno district. The Infernal was a murderer named Miyamoto, culprit of the deaths of four men, who was going to be a free man, thanks to his insanity. Following the first rumours, the Infernal had still a sense of itself, which could make you less regretful towards what you were going to do.
Hinawa: Where are Shinra and Arthur?
A shiver ran down your spine and Maki's too, since she was trembling like a leaf under the Lieutenant's glare. You entered the Matchbox and went out. However the Lieutenant's rage didn't fade at all.
Hinawa: Shinra! Arthur! I know you're in the area! Wander out without permission, will you?! When we get back, you're getting disciplined until you can't move anymore!
Maki: I'm sorry, both of you! I'm sorry! I couldn't tell him I sent you. I'll do anything. Ramen is on me. Forgive me.
Iris: Maki, what are you doing?
Y/N: Maki, calm down, you didn't do anything wrong, did you?
Maki looked at you with tears dwelling in her eyes, before putting her whole body in a complete bow, continuosly asking for forgiveness. You heard the Lieutenant calling Shinra and Arthur, so you opened the rear doors of the Fire Engine.
Y/N: Lieutenant, I will preceed you. See you there.
Hinawa: Understood. Go with those two.
You jumped outside the vehicle, sprouting your wings and following Shinra and Arthur at the fastest speed you could go to. You were on their tail and in a matter of moments arrived at the Court. Shinra presented himself with a strong kick to the Infernal's stomach. After recovering, it was Arthur's turn to hurt the bastard, sending him away from his blonde hair, before you could give him a double kick, greatly increased by the speed of your wings.
