Hanna got her clothes and I wore them after which we went to the mall to buy new clothes since the ones I owned had been burnt in the fire.
The reason I wanted to wear full sleeve and full pants was because it would cover up my burns. Hanna and I had the same size so her clothes fit me easily though I didn't want to take her clothes to wear them because I knew that I would feel like I owed her big time.
I bought a pair of full length jeans, a full sleeve shirt and a three fourth sleeve shirt. I didn't want anyone but my friends to know about the burns. We had our sleepover today so I got some stuff for it with the remaining money I had.
Now I was at Hanna's house waiting for Claire and Miranda to show up before which I had just said goodbye to my mom. Miranda was the first.
"Hi Alex, I feel like I haven't seen you in forever! How are your burns? Can I see them?" This was typical, cheery, curious Miranda. She loved to put herself in the places where she had no business.
We had an awkward hug in which I was standing a little too stiff and she was squeezing me a little too hard.
"Miranda... squeezing... hard... can't... breathe." I wheezed.
"Oh, sorry." She said as she let go.
"I'm fine. My burns are fine and yes you can see them. I only have burns on my arms." I hadn't even shown Hanna my burns.
I rolled up my sleeves, removed the thin layer of cloth and showed them my burns. Most people don't like their burns. Not that I'm saying I do like them. They are disgusting but it's not like I couldn't look at them. No words can explain how they look like to me.
Whenever I look at them I get reminded of that horrible fire that took my house and almost my mom and me away from me. I tried not to look at them but sometimes when I was removing the thin cloth I just couldn't help myself. The bell rang, snapping me out of my thoughts. I knew that it was Claire but I rolled down my sleeves after covering my burns up with the cloth.
"Hey guys!" Claire said, "It's me Claire. Obviously you know who I am. Now let's get this sleepover started." There was dead silence.
Claire was this type of person. She tried her best to be cool but that just made her un-cool. I remember last year when we all had met, we had become great friends instantly. Claire had seemed like a really great person back then.
At first, I thought that she would have been the perfect best friend but I had no idea how wrong I was. She changed into who she is now and then I realized that she cared about no one but herself. She acts like she owns the group, like she's our leader. I'm not saying that that's wrong. It's because of her that we all met in the first place. I don't like her as much as I like Hanna and Miranda but they like her. They thought that we shouldn't kick out the person who created the existence of our friendship.
"Yeah let's." Miranda said.
"We would all love to hear about the fire Alex but, could that wait for later? I mean, we don't have forever to stay here." Claire said.
"Yeah sure." I said. I anyways didn't even have any interest in telling them about the fire. Looking at the burns had made me remember the whole experience. I didn't want to relive it again.
We took our tents, set them outside, took out some food and used the torch to tell each other scary stories. It's just that the scariest of all, was the fire.
