I wore a three-fourth shirt and a short skirt to school the next day. My friends didn't say anything but that didn't mean that they were happy about it.

After school, I went straight home. I wasn't in a friend mood. I had bought a laptop from the money I had given to Hanna to keep safe and I had my phone. I was doing homework when I got a call from my mom.

"Hello mom?"

"Honey, how are you? I missed you so much."

"Yeah, me too mom. I'm fine. How's dad?"

"I called you so that I could tell you that your dad survived. He- I don't know how to explain it but let's just say that he lost his memory but-"

"What?" I said.

"He lost his memory!" she shouted.

"I heard it the first time, mom."

"Then why did you-"

"Never mind, continue."

"He lost his memory but got it back after I talked to him and tried to make him remember. He's alright but his memory's not completely back so I'll be taking care of him. He has some doctor's appointments on some days too so we'll be back later. Maybe a few days... Anyways, are you okay living where you are? Are your friends treating you properly?"

"Yeah mom, I'm fine."

"Did that piece of brick hurt you?"

"How did you know that?"

"Hanna's mom told me."

"Well, I'm fine."

"I've got to get off the phone but before I do I want to tell you, stay away from disasters! I don't want you to get hurt!"

"Alright mom."

"I love you honey."

"Me too." I waited for her to say something else but I heard the sweet music and I knew that she had ended the call. It felt nice to talk to my mom again. I was glad that my dad had gotten better and that they might come back in a few days but he had lost his memory? I didn't know that the accident had been so serious but I was glad that he knew who my mom was or I could have lost my dad. If he was standing in front of me then it would have been like the man in front of me was my dad but he wasn't because he didn't know who I was.

Just as these thoughts went through my head I remembered something. Tomorrow was my birthday. I couldn't believe that I had almost forgotten it. I never forget my birthday or anyone's. I was going to turn 13 tomorrow. I was going to become a teenager. This was an important birthday.  I was surprised that my mom or my friends hadn't brought it up yet. I was just too tired to do anything about it so I quickly finished my homework and went to sleep.
