1 month later

"So where are we going?" Lucas said from Bucky's passenger seat.

"Well your birthday is in two weeks. You've been practicing driving with me on the backroads all summer long. So you'll be ready to take that provisonal license driving test and you'll pass I know you will. So I figured why not take you to pick out a truck..for us to fix up together." Bucky said

"Really? Does mom know this?" Lucas said

"She does. I told her this morning in the shower." He said

"Gross.." Lucas said

Bucky smirked and shook his head. They pulled into the dealership that knew Bucky's family well since his dad was one of the more popular mechanics in town. Once Lucas picked out a truck he liked. They had it delivered to Bucky's place they pushed it into the barn on Bucky's property that he doesn't use much.

"So do you know how to fix it up?" Lucas said

"Yeah I do. I grew up in a mechanic shop." He said as he pulled out the tools he needed.

"Was you and your dad close growing up?" Lucas said

"Yup..you've been around my family. You see the dynamic a lot like you and your mom are close." He said as he popped the hood.

Bucky began to show Lucas how to fix up the junker truck they had bought. All day long they bonded and talked about everything. By the time it was dark they had finished as Ansleigh walked in from work.

"Hey my boys.." she said

"Hey darlin" Bucky said as he closed the hood.

"Start it up Luke." He said as he wiped his hands and kissed Ansleigh.

Lucas started up the truck and smiled when he heard the engine. He turned it off and hopped out of the truck.

"Thanks for today! I love you dad..and mom. I'm going to go call EJ and Cami." Lucas said

Bucky smiled as he swallowed back a lump. "I love you too son." He said as Luke hugged Ansleigh.

Lucas ran off, "Baby.." Ansleigh whispered as she saw tears fell down Bucky's face.

She kissed him. "It's okay. I know how much that means to you baby." She said

"Help me lock up and I'll help with supper. And yes it means alot to me today was one of those days I was looking forward to with TJ but life had other plans. But I got a second chance with him to experience this." He said as he turned off the lights.
