A week later
"Mom?" Lucas said as he came into her room.
"Yeah I'm in my closet." She said as she came out in a dress.
"Where are you going?" He said
"On a date..with Coach Barnes." She said
"Oh no no you can't date my coach mom. You certainly can't wear a dress that shows off your boobs." Lucas said
"Luke it's just dinner." She said
"Are you the food? Not that dress mom. Why do you even have a dress like that?" Lucas said as he laid across her bed.
She sighed. "Your auntie Melody." She said as she went back into the closet.
After five dresses she finally found one Lucas liked.
"That one is more you mom. So can Camilla come over while you are gone on this date. Mel let's EJ and Olivia be alone when she and uncle Elliot go out." Lucas said
She bit her lip. "As long as you promise me that you'll be good. I know she's your girlfriend now but Luke." She says but he cut her off.
"Mom I'm not asking her over to have sex. We are just going to order pizza and watch movies. We just started dating." He said
"Okay." She said as she went to finish getting ready.
Bucky knocked on the door ten minutes later. Lucas answered the door.
"Hey coach.." he said
"Matthews." Bucky said as he stepped in.
After a few minutes of awkward silence. "Be good to her coach she's my mom. And even though we but heads a lot lately. I still love her and I will hurt you." Lucas said as Ansleigh was coming down the stairs.
"Lucas Ryan Matthews that's enough." She said
"You look beautiful. These are for you." Bucky said as he handed her a bouquet of red roses.
"Thank you.." she said
"Oh Ansleigh here I'll put them in the vase for you." Camilla said from the couch.
"Thanks Cami honey." Ansleigh said
"You ready?" Bucky said
"Yeah. Luke you know the rules..and no sex" she said
"Geez mom chill.." Lucas said as he shut the door.
He watched from the window as Bucky opened his truck door for her and helped her in. Once Bucky was in his truck they left for Kanki's Japanese Steaks and Sushi.
"I made reservations. I hope you like sushi or steak..it's a Japanese restaurant my mom suggested it." He said as they pulled on to the main road.
"I have only tried it one time. I liked it.." she said
"Same with me." He said
It went quiet for a bit once they got to the restaurant and settled with drinks.
"So you said you had a late wife..was it cancer or something?" She said
"No, not to sound harsh but I would have preferred that. Telina had just picked up our son he was 8 at the time. He passed away too..a truck ran a red light speeding at like 95 miles per hour as she was crossing the intersection. She was also pregnant with our second son who didn't survive as well. I had to make the difficult decision of turning off Taylor's machines a few days after the accident..he would have been right around your son's age." He said
"Oh my gosh. I am so sorry.." she said
"Thank you. So you gave me the summarized version of the story behind Lucas. Didn't you try and go through his parents to get him to step up." Bucky said
"My mom said it wasn't worth the hassle. They have more money than God he comes from an Oil family in Texas. Shortly after I moved his parents and him moved to Texas." She said
The waiter brought out their food and chopsticks. "Did your parents make you move or was it your decision?" he said as he took a bite.
"It was mine, I felt stupid and so naive to believe that he actually loved me. And I didn't want to walk around school with my growing belly and watching him be with other girls." She said
"Did adoption cross your mind?" He said
"It did..the bakery was my plan B." She said as she looked down.
"Plan B? " he said as he took a sip of his drink.
"I had this dream of becoming a lawyer. My college plans were to be a criminal justice major attend a big university. Experience all that comes with college." She said
"It's not that great.." he said with a smile.
"But life threw me a curveball before I was even in high school. And I had thought about adoption but the more I carried him and felt him growing and kicking. I realized that I couldn't give a baby away it wasn't his fault so why should I punish him for his sperm donor.." she said
"You sound like my sister. She was the same exact way when she found she was pregnant with Shawn." He said
"And it's been hard but I'm sure like your sister she made the best of it like I have." She said
"She did. Shawn is currently working on getting his masters in Psychology at UNC." He said
"Luke wants to major in communications and journalism. He wants to works for ESPN." She said
He smirked. The conversation continued to flow they moved from her past to their favorite things. They were laughing and flirting they didn't realize that they were about the only couple left in the restaurant.
When Bucky took her home he walked her up to the front door.
"So a second date?" He said
"Definitely.." she said
Bucky leaned down and kissed her. She began to kiss back as she cupped his cheek. He pulled her closer as the kiss deepened. He broke the kiss and rested his forehead against hers.
"Good night Ansleigh." He whispered
"Good night James.." she whispered
He kissed her one time. "I'll call you in the morning.." he whispered
"Yeah." She said as they let go of each other's hands.
When she went inside she saw Camilla still up but Lucas was asleep.
"Cami?" She whispered
"Annie.." she whispered
"Let me change and I'll take you home." She said
"Thank you." She said
Ansleigh took Camilla down the street to her house then went back home. She left Lucas asleep on the couch and went on to her bedroom.
