<Ace pov>
Four sits next to my bed. He tells me that Loki was executed last night. He has no remorse for what they did to Loki. He keeps telling me that I need to be careful. That he won't let me out of his sight. He is like an over protective brother.
I am suppose to leave the infirmary today after going through a night of cold sweat and pain. But Selma wants to check up on me first and make sure the heal fast medicine had worked. My body feels better. But i know my legs will probably be like jelly again.
"Hey Ace how are you feeling," she asks.
"Much better," i say smiling.
"Thats good, Four may i speak with you," she says.
Four stands up and walks away. I am left alone in the room with my thoughts. Which is not a good idea because of what happened yesterday. My thoughts keep going to Eric. I already missed him. Why is he scared? Shouldn't i be scared? He says its to protect me. But him protecting me is hurting me.
I feel like a ship lost at sea. Lost in all the emotions thats are crashing down on me like waves. Making the ship almost sink to the dark depths of the sea. My heart felt like it was drowning.
As i am lost in my thoughts i barely notice Four comes sits back next to me.
"Lost in thought aren't you," he says.
I snap back into reality and nod my head. Selma checks my stomach, back, and arm. The cuts are clearly gone and reduced to small marks. Barely visible to the eye. I am glad to get ride of them this fast. I do not want to remember the event that took place. I just want to forget everything that happened.
"Well we better head to training," says Four.
I nod my head and follow him as we head to the hallway where the rest of the initiates are waiting. I stumble a little but I can feel my legs. I smile at Lex and Tayla before i go and sit down with them.
"How you feeling," Lex asks.
A concerned look on her face. I just nod my head and lean back onto the wall.
I wait for my name to be called. Finally when I am called I get up and head towards the door. I am the only one in the hallway by now. As I walk in I notice it is only Eric.
"Where is Four," I ask.
"Busy," he says.
As he types something into the computer. His eyes do not move to look at me just straight at the screen.
"Sit," he says pointing at the chair beside him.
I go and sit down. I look at him and he faces me. His hard exterior covering the man I know underneath. He grabs the serum next to him and presses the needle to my neck.
"You know what to do," he says.
As I close my eyes I feel something tug at my heart. Once I open my eyes again I know I am in my room. I know what this is. I walk to the bathroom and find my mom crying once again.
As I comfort her, I hear my dad come running in tearing me away from her. After we are done cleaning he starts beating me. I try to fight back but he feels so strong. I try to dodge some of his punches and read his weak points but it is no use. So I try to calm my heart. In the moment I try to calm down, my father nails me in the face and I black out.
I wake up in the chair once again. Eric staring into the computer screen. He is typing something. I sit up and stare at him. He does not look at me.
"How did I do," I ask, breaking the silence.
"Good,"he says.
"Do I still need extra training," I ask.
"No, you are fine," he says.
I have a strong urge to grab his arm and make him look at me. He won't face me and it hurts. I just want him to give me one look so I knew all that he said was not fake. But true. I get up and just stand next to him for a while.
"You can go now," he says.
I look at him confused, hurt, and angry.
"I guess I was just a game to you," I say.
Eric turns away from the computer and looks at me bewildered.
"No. Where did you get that idea from," he growls.
"From the way you are acting," I say.
Looking down instead of looking up at him. I hear feet shuffle towards me. Eric uses his index finger to lift my chin so my eyes can look into his eyes.
"Ace. I don't know how that thought got into your head. But I am enchanted by you. You mesmerize me, and you have stumped me. But I am also bad for you. And ever since I met you. Bad things happened to you," he says.
"Those things have nothing to deal with you and they were never your fault," I say.
"I want to protect you Ace. But every time I am close, you get hurt. So the only way I can protect you, is to stay away,"he says.
"If you stay away. Who will save me now," I say staring into his eyes.
Eric has saved me multiple times, and he does not see it. He saved me from my dad and from Loki. Yeah it maybe only twice, but both times I was almost killed. How can he not see that if he did not save me and protect me then that I would not be alive.
I love this man, but he needs to understand that bad things happen and we can't control what happens. I love how he wants to protect me but he needs to know that him trying to pull away from me is hurting me. And it is hurting him too. I love him for his courage, but he can be an idiot to what is right in front of him.
Eric is still staring into my eyes. A little color sprinkling across them. He seems belittled by my answer. I put my hand to the side of his face.
"You saved me Eric. From my thoughts," I say.
"Ace, I am no good. Can't you see," he says standing up straight.
He walks back and puts his hands through his hair. He paces around the small room. I feel so trapped. He finally stops and looks at me. His eyes piercing into me. He walks over to me and I back into the wall.
He traps me against the wall. His warm breath on my face sending shivers down my body. I look up at him. Trying to read his gaze. His face has no emotions, but in the next second all I see is love and adoration. His lips swoops down and captures mine as we kiss. It feels so right. All the things that were said forgotten. And in this moment we are lost in each other.
When we finally a break apart Eric looks at me with a smile. He looks so happy and so care free. It makes me so happy to see him like this.
His hard exterior gone and the Eric I know being there. He smiles at me and takes me in with his eyes. I can feel my cheeks turning pink.
"Ace, you make me break all the rules," he says.
He than pushed off the wall and gives me space to walk past him. I walk to the door and open it. Eric follows me out.
"I promise to protect you Ace. I won't let anyone hurt my girl," he says.
A smile tugs at my lips. Eric just called me his girl.
