I woke up in a cold sweat. My heart racing. My head throbbing. It was sun rise. And I was alone. I got up and suddenly realised how hungry I was. Breakfast was a blur, eating, girls calling me "greenie" and thinking, thinking about my dream, what could it all mean? I was sitting at a table, deep in though when Flo suddenly sat down beside me. I looked at her. She looked like she hadn't slept a wink. She put her hand through her hair.
"Greenie!" She said, like she'd just noticed I was there.
"Hey Flo" I murmured
"What's with you?"
"Oh...nothing"
"Oh by the way greenie I'm so sorry I couldn't find you last night...I had...um..business....to attend to"
Business. What business? She smiled.
"You know Newt, in all this craziness, your a real anchor...ya know?"
I didn't know. What the bloody hell was she talking about? Anchor? In what craziness? But it felt great when she smiled. Like everything was ok when she was smiling....
"How was being a med-" she was cut up by yet another loud scream.
"No..." Flo muttered. Her face reminded him of the look on Sophia's face the previous day. Fear. Deep. Deep fear. Like it was in her very blood.
"No...no...NOOO" she got up and started full-on running to the med-jack building. I had had enough now. I was done with secrets. I needed answers. I took my chance and ran after her. Across the glade, through the door and up the stairs. She didn't even try to stop me. Three other screams burst out through this time, each one louder, more full of pain and fear than the last. We reached the door. Flo held her hand up to the door. And then looked at me.
"Ok greenie, this is the real klunk right here ok, you've GOT to be able to handle it, the only reason I'm letting you in is cause....cause I like you greenie, I can tell you won't stop till you find out what's going on" and with that she opened the door.
