Chapter thirty-five

What? What was she talking about?
"What do you-"
"I know its stupid! But... I guess it's just the way you look at him..." She trailed off.
I was stunned. What?
"NO! NO OF CORSE NOT! NO" I got up. How could she say something so insensitive after all she'd been though? I stormed out the room in an frustrated range. I ran down the stairs out to the glade where I saw Tommy and Lena. I ran up to them
"YOU'D NEVER HAVE GUESSED WHAT BLOODY FLO JUST ASKED ME!!" They both turned.
"Um...Newt, can I...talk to you...alone" Lena said.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW?"
"Just calm down okay?"
"Okay" she walked me over to bench.
"Um" she blushed
"I know this isn't the right time but...we were kind if in the middle if something" she nodded towards Tommy. I was speechless. Anger filled my body, yet again. Lena must have sensed this because she started backing away from me.
"But...it doesn't matter...not really..."
"WHAT? I WAS TO TALK TO MY BEST FRIEND ABOUT MY OTHER BEST FRIEND THINKING THAT I HAVE A BLOODY THING FOR HIM BUT I CANT BECAUSE MY OTHER BLOODY FRIEND IS CHATTING THEM UP?" I stormed off yet again into the forest. What was with these people? I sat down at the stump of a tree and sure enough a few moments later, Tommy came up from behind the trees and say down.
"So.."
I knew that he wanted me to start this conversation but I gave him a I'm-not-going-to-say-anything look so he started talking.
"I am your best friend then..." He smiled. I didn't.
"Okay then...So Flo thinks you have a thing for me?"
"Yes, well no, not exactly...she thinks we're 'more than friends' ridiculous!..."
Tommy didn't say anything. I turned to look at him but he was staring at the floor, blankly.
"Stupid right?" I encouraged
"Yeah...yeah" he mumbled
"So your saying we have more than a friendship?" I almost laughed
"No! I mean of CORSE not! That would be weird!..." He trailed off. I could tell he didn't want to linger on it... So I tried moving on to something else...
"Lena got a thing for you then!"
"Yeah..." Ever since I mentioned what had gone down with Flo, Tommy had completely shut down. He was distant.
