Rai felt like he was floating in space; his body felt weightless as he began to open his eyes. Everything looked as white as freshly fallen snow. Rai slowly got to his feet; he still had the strange dagger Amethyst gave him. His arm was no longer all cut up and bleeding, but he still had the scars to show it happened. So this is The Boundary..
Rai could not see anything in the vast expanse. I don't get why Amethyst was so worried about me dying h—
A voluminous roar shoot the ground furiously, causing Rai to brace himself from falling, and put his hands over his ears. Something sharp, or spiked slammed into Rai's back with so much power, it threw him forwards, leading to him rolling onto the ground. He rolled onto his back, just in time to see a large, spiked tail coming down towards him. Rai rolled over just enough so the tail came crashing down inches away from his head. Rumble showered near him, and the ground began to tremble from the force.
Rai jumped up to his feet, facing his attacker. Rai's heart felt like it wanted to jump out of his chest, as the faced a enormous white dragon. They had the same blue aura lacing around their scales as the dagger given to Rai. He unsheathed the dagger, being he never got his sword back from Jaison. Rai noticed that part of one of the large talons on the dragon was missing.
You must choose.. the voice sent shivers down Rai's spine, as the dragon turned to face him. Accept your death now..or try to defeat me.. the large white dragon continued. I don't think I'll be able to defeat them with just a dagger.. Know that if you come out victorious, I shall be your ally, and help you overcome your upcoming adversities..
Rai took a deep breath, calming his nerves, and began to think over his decision. How would I even defeat them? Injure them until they submit?? I don't even know I'd be able to injure them.. Rai looked over the scales on the dragon. I should be able to win if I stick to using this dagger, being they are connected to them..
"I'll choose to fight you." Rai announced, bracing himself for an attack. Very well.. the white dragon spread its large leathery wings, taking on large flap, lifting off into the air.
The dragon turned in mid air, lightning sparking off of their long talons and fangs. A large wave of lightning came at Rai. Rai tried to dodge most of the attack; he got hit in the arm by the lightning as he went to the left. There was a searing pain shooting through his arm as it started to bleed from the injury.
As they dove down towards Rai, he took hold of their tail, climbing up onto the dragons back. The large beast didn't make it easy for Rai, as he made his way up their back; the dragon did Airel maneuvers, making it hard for him to hold on and keep his balance. Rai brought his hand up, once he found a
vulnerable spot in the scales; Rai was able to see smooth skin underneath the scales. He summoned a large ball of lightning over his head, combining it with the dagger, then brought it down near the skin. The dragon let out an annoyed hiss, now nose diving downwards, towards the ground. They pulled up before they made impact, but it was enough to knock Rai off him. Rai knocked his head off of something hard whenever he made impact with the ground, but he was able to keep his consciousness. Is this all you can do... the dragon roared, landing near Rai; their bright blue eyes —made out of lightning —watched him as Rai struggled to his feet.
Rai felt blood start to trickle down the side of his face, as he looked up at the proud creature. You are nothing but a puny human... you are a not worthy of living.. The large white dragon raised its head, letting out a vicious roar. Their scales erupted, now engulfed with lightning all over their body.
They began to charge down towards Rai now. Rai tried to run to the side but he was scooped up into the dragons large talons. Rai began to feel the breath being squeezed out of him, as the dragon began to close it talons around him more. Rai felt bones begin to crack under the extreme pressure. I was a fool to think I was able to defeat them.. "LET ME GO!" Rai yelled at the top of his lungs, pain starting to course through all his body. Lightning started to surround him. He was able to break the dragon's grip. Rai was able to somehow make it to the ground without hurting himself anymore than he already was.
Rai tried to struggle to his feet shakily. However, the dragon's tail lashed him hard on the back, sending him collapsing back onto the floor. "I didn't expect you to give up that easily.. my son.." Damien planted his foot on Rai's back. Rai picked up his head weakly, looking around; the dragon was gone. "Did you really think I'd let you live for one more full year? I'm not sorry to tell you that you were sorely mistaken." Damien hissed, pressing his foot farther into Rai's back. "It was you the whole time..." Rai whispered, struggling to keep his eyes open. "Indeed. Good bye now.." Rai could hear the sound of Damien unsheathing a sword. Rai felt a sharp pain between his shoulder blades, but it quickly subsided. He tricked me.. he never wanted to uphold his end of the deal..
I've failed you mother..Molly.. I wasn't able to keep my promise.. I wasn't able to avenge the two of you.. Rai's body began to feel weightless once again. Maybe I'll be at peace finally.. However, whenever he opened his eyes, he met the gaze of his mother. Her warm purple eyes and gentle smile comforted Rai in a way he hasn't felt since his birth day. "You have too much to do instead of rest, Rai.." Her calm voice seemed sad, but not disappointed in Rai's failure. "You still need to help your friends, and save Arcadia." Rai's mother stroked his forehead gently.
"Please..live for me and your sister..no matter how great the pain is right now, my son.." Osiris hugged Rai gently; he accepted her embrace. "I will mother.." Rai was able to say. Rai closed his eyes, savoring the feeling of being with his mother again, even if it's for a short period of time. However, whenever he opened his eyes again, he was laying in a hospital bed and had no idea of where he was.
