To Fill In Space

Jisung happily trotted behind his photography partner as they wandered back into the forest once more. Since they didn't have much content, they decided to take more photos of the forest and clouds to fill in some space on their collage. They would have to extend their essay and make up more bullshit, but Jisung had been bullshitting his way through essays since he was born so this was nothing new. Just had to go on about some arbitrary tangent about the meaning of life and how it connects to moving changing river bends and clouds and voila A+ essay.
"Actually that's not too bad" he thought, making a mental note to do that in his essay, hoping that he'd remember.

Bored of trotting through the woods in eerie silence, Jisung decided to ramble crap from his brain he could remember, primarily trying to poke fun at the boy in front of him
"This catatonic teenager will fall for the world's gayest vampire," he narrated in a deep voice.
Chenle glanced back at him, furrowing his brows before looking back ahead at the track. "You've got schizophrenia?"
"What, no," Jisung looked at him weirdly, "is that what the word means?"
Chenle nodded as he stepped over a dirt track.

Jisung looked up at the sky through the trees, dragging a small "ah" as he understood. He had honestly just heard it in a video about 'Twilight' and what better than to make fun of the vampire before him with a sort of shitty franchise. At least he could appreciate the stupidity now that he had an actual vampire as his friend. Well two actually. He wondered about the video when something clicked in his head.
He shot his head back down, glaring at the boy in front of him, "WAIT HOLD UP I'M NOT GOING TO FALL FOR YOU!"
Chenle chuckled quietly as Jisung huffed behind him with a frown. Now it just felt like he walked head first into a trap. It was even worse cause he set the trap up himself.

Jisung grumbled, itching the back of his neck as he walked through the dense trees and bushes, tracking on dead leaves as small things came back to his mind about his surroundings. He looked back at the boy in front of him, "Chenle, you're the world's gayest vampire?" he giggled.
Chenle snorted, quickly glancing at him before answering, "maybe Renjun hyung is, but I think I come as a close second. I'm gonna live for a long time, you expect me to be straight for that many years?" Jisung chuckled, mumbling "fair enough" as he continued walking, looking down at the colourful leaves on the floor, trying not to slip on the forest floor. It was a nice place, maybe he should come down himself after he finished this project. He'd appreciate the tranquillity.

"You don't mind me being gay right?" Chenle spoke quietly, snapping Jisung out of his trance, his head darting back up.
"Hm?" Jisung looked at him blankly before tripping over a rock. He laughed slightly at himself, as he stood up before answering the boy, "why would I? I'm not entirely straight myself, why would I mind, dude?"
"Oh," Chenle looked back at him, nodding toward him before looking back at the path they were trekking.

Jisung frowned as Chenle's shoulders relaxed slightly, "did you expect me to?"
"Huh?" Chenle turned back around, stopping in his tracks to let Jisung catch up with him. "I didn't know what to think to be honest."
Jisung chuckled, hiking his way up to him with a grin. He patted Chenle's shoulder, gesturing for him to lead their way. He wasn't going to lie when he said his heart swelled at the fact that Chenle trusted him enough to tell him something he didn't seem comfortable talking too much about. He felt kind of honoured that Chenle saw him as someone he could be himself around. He bit his lip, stopping himself from just grinning stupidly to himself.

Noticing Chenle had gone silent and wanting to lighten the mood a bit, he ran forward a bit. He turned back to him, stumbling on bits of broken twigs as he smiled at a quizzical Chenle. Jisung pointed to a patch of sunlight that hit the floor. "Take off your hood and stand here."
Chenle tilted his sunglasses forward, raising an eyebrow at him, "why?"
"You've seen Twilight," Jisung nodded at the patch again before looking back at him, desperately trying to hold a straight face.
Chenle clicked his tense jaw, glaring at the boy, his eyes going slightly silver yet never acting upon it. Instead he just yelled at him.
"REAL VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE IN THE SUN, DICKHEAD!" the boy retaliated loudly, his voice echoing off the hollow forest. Jisung doubled over in fits of laughter as Chenle walked up shaking his head. He pushed the younger boy's shoulder gently, chuckling silently as he walked forward.

Jisung grinned, looking back at him, getting a weird feeling in his chest as he watched the boy hop over the last log to their destination. He turned back forward, eyes wide with burning cheeks. What the hell was happening to him? He darted his head back as the boy's silhouette disappeared behind the thick forest tree, holding his chest as his stomach flipped.
Not wanting to deal with whatever was happening to his mind and body at that moment, he took a deep breath, tapping his warm cheeks so he'd get a grip. He was probably just cold on the inside, that's probably why he felt so weird. Nothing to do with Chenle, no sirree. Jumping up and down to give himself an excuse as to why his heart was beating so fast, he jumped back around before running through the forest back to his photography partner.

He came up to the clearing near the river, unconsciously smiling as he saw Chenle focusing the camera on another section of the forest. He pulled his phone out of his pocket, barely aware of what he was doing as he opened the camera app, taking a quick snap of the concentrated boy in front of him. A pretty, soulless boy.
Jisung snapped out of his daze, looking down at his phone at the picture on his phone. Luckily for him the photo was a bit blurry and exposed strangely so that if anyone else could see it, they couldn't really tell who it was, which was a breath of relief for Jisung. What had gotten into him was seriously a mystery.

He didn't delete it though. Why delete such a pretty picture?

Upon hearing a faint ring, Jisung's head shot up to see Chenle pulling out his phone. His eyes widening, looking to Jisung in fear, "Uh, I gotta go now."
Jisung's face fell, "how come?" Not that he was upset or anything. They just really needed to work on their project. That's all. "Yeah that's all."
Chenle bit his lip, blinking at the boy, "...well you see my dear friend, I am a vampire."
"Yeah, I know that," Jisung deadpanned back.
"So," Chenle clasped his hands together in front of him, swaying back and forth on his feet, "you know that even though I eat normal food, it doesn't exactly work."
"Yeah?" Jisung nodded, not really getting the point of why he was being told information he already knew.
"So I gotta eat at least once a week, in my vampire way, yeah?" Chenle was practically spelling out to him. Jisung blinked blankly with a nod, still not getting it. Chenle sighed dramatically, fangs coming out, "dude, I gotta eat, fucking leave."
"OHHH," Jisung dragged, nodding with a smile. He had noticed how the boys cheeks had hollowed and that somehow he looked paler than usual, but he didn't know why nor how to bring it up. At least this offered an explanation.

"Right...how does it work?"
Chenle pursed his lips together. "...well I kinda have to like...pretend to mug someone. They won't know after it's happened but like...yeah." Jisung nodded, both of them standing in awkward silence for a moment. Well this was new. Chenle added, "I watch over them when they pass out so that nothing happens to them until they come to, I'm not that horrible." Jisung laughed slightly, muttering "I know that" while he looked down.

And that's when Jisung truly decided to throw his brain to the floor. Cause what's the point of thinking through things if not for the sake of love.
"Friendship love of course. Not love love."
Sorry, yes, friendship love.

"Um, I could volunteer?" Jisung said, not registering the words coming out of his mouth as per usual.  Chenle stood frozen as Jisung walked up to him calmly. He rolled up his sleeve, "I'm assuming you don't actually need to bite their necks, yeah?" Chenle simply nodded in panic and confusion as Jisung smiled at him. The younger boy took a deep breath, practically offering his arm to Chenle. "I don't mind," he said with a sincere smile, "it's better than mugging someone."
"Are you sure?" Chenle asked quietly, making contact with Jisung's skin, sending a small shock through his system.
Jisung chuckled, "I really don't mind."
"It'll hurt."
"So I've gathered."

Chenle huffed, staring up at the boy with pursed lips. After what Jisung could only decipher as contemplation, Chenle agreed, telling him to sit down. Jisung shrugged off his jacket, placing it on the floor so that he wouldn't sit on the damp forest grass. Chenle shuffled closer to him, resting one of his hands on Jisung's thigh to balance himself. Jisung swallowed sharply, nodding at the boy looking at him in uncertainty, trying to assuage his doubts. He didn't mind pain, as long as Chenle was okay.

The older boy took a deep breath before sinking his teeth into Jisung's skin, the younger boy yelping a bit before slapping his other hand over his mouth.

Jisung didn't know how much blood Chenle had taken, nor what had happened during or after it. All he knows is that one moment he was sat on the floor of a beautiful dense forest and the next he was waking in a cold sweat in his bedroom, his arm wrapped tightly in a blood seeped bandage.
