Chapter 28: Calm

"Talk? What's to talk about?"

Before I can say anything, Arcane scoffs at me. He stands up and starts to take a step away from me.

"You're just wasting my time. I'm leaving."

"Oh, of course you are! Walking out on me, just like you did years ago!"

Arcane stops and turns to me. He gives me a stern look as he does.

"What do you want."

"I told you what I want! Are you gonna listen!?"

He stands there, staring at me. Not saying a word. I sigh, sitting back down.

"Good. You know anything about that Nexus?"

"..What?"

I scratch my head as I look back at him.

"He uh, is our other brother."

"Other broth.. are you trying to make a fool out of me?"

"Please, you do that easily on your own. He looked a lot like me and father.. he said.. he said he was the one who killed him. He probably knows about you too.."

"But how!? Mother only gave birth to-"

"I'm pretty sure father had an affair around the time mother had me."

Arcane scoffs, looking away.

"Of course. Why didn't I expect that scum to do such a thing."

I sigh. I stare at him for a moment before shaking my head. I stand up to face him directly.

"I think we should have a truce."

".. Pardon?"

"Our other brother.. Nexus.. he's powerful and seems really dangerous. I don't think we should be at each other's throat at a time like this."

Arcane scoffs at me once again.

"Why? Because you let your friends get in danger and you're too weak to get them out?"

I stomp over to him and grab him by the collar pulling forward and down towards me, given he's five inches taller than me.

"You have no right you piece of shit! You call yourself so strong and yet, you can't even be a big brother right! My friend keeps trying to cover that position because YOU COULDN'T!!"

I stand there, staring at him and breathing heavily. I still have a hold on his collar. I look at him and he almost looks shock. He then pushes me off him, to then look away from me.

"I'll think about it. Try to not die until then."

From Arcane, a flash of light happens. It causes me to cover my eyes. Once I loom back, he's completely gone. I let out a sigh as I shake my head.
