Lightning Strikes Twice

Chapter 43: Clear Skies

I just stand there, smirking as I look at Nexus, Clearly unable to fight. But after all that, my exhaustion slowly starts to kick in.

"Marsh!"

Hearing my name be called, I turn around to see Minerva coming up to me. She stops beside me and just eyes Nexus.

"So.. is he really done? You really beat him?"

"Yeah.. I did. There's no denying it, even for him that he's out of energy."

Minerva nods, looking at me once, but keeps eye contact with Nexus for the most part. Probably to be safe in case he pulls something.

"Allison sent Xenith to the castle to tell Queen. Guards will be here any minute now."

"Got it."

"You think.. a cell can hold me..?"

We both turn our heads as Nexus let's that out. He coughs, giving a weak and strained grin.

"You know how our powers work brother.. my energy will build back up in whatever cell you decide to toss me in."

He gives a weak cackle as he lifts his head a bit.

"I'll break out.. come up with a new plan.. we'll be doing this forever brother.. until I win."

Nexus goes back to grinning at me as his eyes glow for a split second, before flickering out.

"You'll never get your happy endin-"

"Excuse me."

I hear an unfamiliar voice. I turn and spot man with glasses, parrot green eyes and long sienna brown hair. He continues walking, stopping infront of me.

"I see that this.. person. Is posing a threat with his powers. I might have just the thing for this, may I help?"

"I.. as long as you're careful, I guess.."

The man nods, walks closer to Nexus and then stops to pull out a journal. He starts flipping through the pages and thinking out loud.

"Where is it.. where is it.. where- ah! There! Perfect."

The man holds out his hand and points it at Nexus his hand starts glowing, being the magic indicator. But.. it keeps glowing brighter, to the point of almost being blinding.

He starts muttering something before light suddenly surrounds Nexus, and then envelops him for a second before disappearing. The light then vanishes and the man shuts his journal as he tucks it away.

"All done!"

He says as he looks over his shoulder to me. I glance at Minerva and she just stares, tilting her head as she looks completely baffled.

I look at Nexus and he just raises a brow. He raises his hand and stares at it for a moment. With the way he's look at it and holding it.. I think he's trying to make electricity show.

But nothing happens. Nexus starts to look furious as he stands, going to grab this man by his collar.

"What did you do!? I can't use my powers!"
