It's been 2.5 weeks since I found the terrible news about Sophia. I've been sleeping less and going to the hospital in the early morning, just to think about any possible solution.. She seems exhausted too, but she wouldn't tell me, a few signs of her going through the trouble of this pregnancy are already showing.
I didn't tell her yet.. I don't know how to. She's been through a lot, it took multiple therapy sessions for her to be a bit relaxed, I don't know how she will take it.
There's a bit of hope, I'm meeting with doctor John, to get an update of what's going on.
4:20 AM, at home
She's asleep right now, so I'm tip-toeing my way out of our bedroom, to go to the hospital
6:40 AM, at the hospital
"Good morning doctor John, please let's have a talk in my office"
"So.." I said while closing the door after he entered my office "Please notify me, is there any update of Sophia's condition?" then moved to my desk while holding a pen to take notes
"Well, it is not looking good, doctor. I did run some tests on her two days ago, and the results are not pleasing"
"Wha- what do you mean?" I asked as I pulled my chair closer to my desk
"Doctor, she's becoming weaker.. and it has only been two and a half weeks since we discovered her pregnancy.. doctor, it may hard to hear but, this is only going to make her weaker."
"Any solutions to this, doctor please help me out" I ask while in the verge of crying
"There isn't, it's either the baby or the mother. Doctor, you need to tell her about this" just by hearing that, I felt my heart, and the pen I was holding, dropped. I felt numb.
All emotions ran through me, confusion for why and what is going on, frustration for having no solution, anger for my uselessness, sadness for my Sophia, and pain for both of my angels.
"Doctor Shawn?" I hear doctor John's call multiple times in faint voice and started having a blurred vision
"Water.. I need water" I said as I loosen up the tie around my neck
He rushed immediately and gave me water
A few seconds later..
"Doctor shawn are you okay? He asks
"I'm fine, I need to go back home and call it a day, let doctor Jonas fill in for my appointments today" I said
He nods.
8:30 AM, at home
I opened the door and shut it quietly, hoping to not disturb Sophia's sleep..
As I walked in, I found her sitting in the living room. "Hey baby, you're early today" She says
"Hey babe, you're awake early, when did you wake up?" I ask, since she usually a bit later.
"I couldn't sleep last night, I woke up at 6.
"6?! baby get some rest please" I say.
"Forget about me baby", she said as she stood up and came closer to me "babe.. why is your face yellow? Are you okay? Is that why you came early?" She asked while holding my face
"Oh it's nothing baby I just had a tough discussion about a patient with one of the doctors come here let's get you to bed"
"Oh no that sounds bad" She said while my heart started to race. "Baby I don't want to sleep"
