After meeting with Dina I walked back home, to my surprise my mom was home early.
"Asslamu Alaykum mama", I yelled as I walked in the house.
"Wa alaykum asslam habibti", she replied.
I ran to her and kissed her forehead, Seeing how hurt Dina was about losing her mom really made me realize how blessed I was to have both of my parents, even though they drove me crazy at times.
I noticed my mom was getting dinner ready, so I washed my hands and began helping her with the preparations.
As I was cutting the lettuce for the salad I heard a phone vibrate. I checked my pocket to see if it was mine, but the lock screen showed no notifications.
Beeeeeeeep.
There it was again I walked over to the living room and noticed Nayaans phone on the couch. Should I look at it? It's her phone, I would be mad if she messed around with my phone.
Without noticing I picked up her phone and read the message on the lock screen.
MEET ME AT THE NEIGHBORHOOD PARK AT 5:00, I GOT THE WEED.
Oh hell no. Nayaan is dead. Weed my butt.
I heard Nayaans foot steps walking down the stairs. I closed the phone and placed it back where it was.
She grabbed her phone and read the message. After putting her phone in her pocket she looked around with a guilty expression. Yeaa If she feeling guilty now, she gonna feel absolutely ashamed after I bust her butt in front of her 'friends'.
After an hour Nayaan told my mom she was going to the masjid to pray Asr and walked right out the door, I followed right behind her, Quietly of course.
As she made her way to the park she hugged a bunch of girls. These girls looked like they were ready to seduce every man that walked by.
I'm gonna give her a chance, she might walk away from it, but if she don't. All hell will break loose.
After 20 minutes of spying on Nayaan a guy came up from behind her and stuck a joint in her mouth. Nayaan yelled but he forced the joint in her mouth. I ran to Nayaan and punched the life out of the boy. I punched with so much force I heard his jaw crack. He tried recovering from the punch, but before he could I punched him again on the same side. It caused his nose to bleed and his left side of the face to swell. He was now on the floor panicking over his bruised face.
Nayaan spit out the joint and began coughing. As she was getting that crap out of her system I grabbed the little wannabe thug by his ears and let out a threat, " listen you piece of trash, my sister is off limits. She does not do anything she doesn't want to do."
I let go of the boy and grabbed Nayaan and placed her to my side.
I turned around to them all and let out another rant "STAY AWAY FROM NAYAAN!"
I turned to Nayaan, " don't think you're off the hook". You're dead.
As we reached the house I mouthed ' my room now' to Nayaan.
With no reply she went to my room.
"What the hell were you thinking? Weed Nayaan! Weed! What you wanna become some stoner!", I whisper yelled.
"I know Layaan, Im sorry, I wasn't gonna do it! I swear I was just gonna sit with them, but if they offered me any I wasn't gonna actually smoke it", her voice was filled with guilt.
" Nayaan, let's say that was your plan, don't you know shaytan can manipulate you to do things. I trust you, I really do, but not the people around you. If I wasn't there that guy would have succeeded in making you smoke the joint. I'm not gonna tell mama and baba, this is gonna remain between us, but I got some conditions. I will now pick you up from school, and you can't go anywhere without me."
Layaan looked at me with tears in her eyes, " Nayaan I don't know what's wrong with me, I just feel like I have to do these things, I know what I'm doing is wrong, I just can't help it".
" I got you babe, you are just having trouble with peer pressure, you're in eighth grade, yall just wanna fit in", I said as I ran my fingers through her hair.
I looked over at my hand and noticed it was bruised. My whole right hand was completely dark blue and purple. I guess I was so angry at the guy shoving the joint in Nayaans mouth I didn't pay attention to how bad my hand hurt after I punched the boy.
I ran to the medicine cabinet and wrapped a bandage wrap around my hand. Hopefully it will heal some how. I got no time to go to the hospital, or better yet explain to my parents how I got the bruise in the first place.
