It was finally only about a month until school would be over. Everything was great! I was going to finish school and spend my first summer with Omar. I just had to get through this last month. Usually It's easy but this time we had prom to worry about.

All anyone could talk about was prom. Who would be prom queen? who would be prom king? This just made my last month last even longer. What was so special about prom anyways.

"Someone looks grumpy today" Dina said as she fiddled with my hijab.

"This whole prom this is stupid! Like it's making this last month so much longer than it is" I replied after sipping on my iced coffee.

"Yea tell me about it. I swear if people knew you and Omar were married and all and saw the way you treated each other yall would win prom king and queen" she laughed as she munched on her fries.

My face became bright red as she let out Omar's name, "Shut up! We aren't even all that! Plus ever since I started wearing hijab people don't care about me"

It was just weird how just a couple months ago how everyone would talk to me and now I was basically invisible. Not that I cared I liked it more this way. People stopped getting in t business and girls stopped hating me for no reason. I guess before I wore hijab I was a threat to them. Then you had those mindless people who thought I wore hijab because I got cancer and my hair started falling off.

As Dina and I were about to leave cafeteria, Jamie tapped me on the shoulder. Jamie was a sweet girl. She respected everyone and never made assumptions. If she had a question she was not afraid to ask.

"Hey Layaan! Um I have a question...I-I am just confused" she stuttered.

"What it is? Ask away" I replied with a gentle smile.

"You don't date right?" She asked hesitantly.

"Yea I don't date at all" I replied with a bit of confusion.

"Well then why are you going to prom with jake? Like that's what everyone is saying, you and jake are nominated for prom king and queen" she stated.

"WHAT! I'm not dating jake! I'm not even going to prom! I hate prom! Jamie please who's been saying this?" I ask trying to hold back my tears.

"Everyone! I was just talking to jake and he even said it was true" she replied innocently.

"Jamie it's not, I don't know what game he's playing. Please if you hear anyone say that tell them he's out of his mind. Can you tell me where he is now?" I ask calmly trying to maintain my sanity.

"Yea he's over there" she pointed near the vending machines.

"Okay thanks Jamie for asking and not believing what you hear"

"No problem, I hope it all works out" she said as she hugged me from the side.

Now I just had to face Jake.
**********************************
"Are you completely out of your mind?" I asked locking my eyes in his.

"Oh there you are! So I guess you heard about us going to prom." I said with a smirk as he walked off into the cafeteria.

"No no...we aren't going to prom. I'm not going to prom. You know I'm married to Omar. Stop playing and grow up" I said as I look at him. It was kind of intimidating since he was so tall.

He leaned into my face and looked in his cold lifeless eyes "Oh did Omar get mad? I told you...I get what I want, and I want you. Therefore I will have you."

"Guess what buddy I ain't going to the prom with you. So good luck with that." I replied still staring in his eyes.

"Okay...fine with me. You'll come around. I'm a very patient man." He whispers in my ear as he walked off into the hallway.

"Hey jake! Hold up I wanna get something off my chest" I say innocently.

Within seconds he walked back to my side, I motion him to crouch so I can whisper in his ear, "first off you aren't a man. By saying you are you're insulting the true men out there. Second off I love Omar. Third, I'm a very patient woman...you can play your games and I'll sit and wait for Allah to clear my name".

With that I walk off with a smirk. As I walk off I could have sworn I heard Jake say "And you wonder why I want you".
************************************
After a long day with Jake I decided to skip my last period and go home since Omar didn't come to school. He wanted to look for apartments. I had to walk home very day after school now since I sold my car to save money to help Omar buy an apartment. It took forever to convince him that I would be fine without a car. It even took him longer to agree to take the money. He wanted to provide for me, which I loved, but he needed to understand I had no problem in helping.

I walk into the house (uncle josh and aunt Layla's house) and noticed Omar on the couch staring at his phone angrily.

I sat next to him on the couch and leaned in to give him a kiss, but he got up leaving me to kiss the leg of the couch.

"What was that all about" I inquired with pain in my heart.

No response.

"What's wrong Omar! You look like you're going to kill someone!" I ask.

He does nothing but shove the phone in my hands, "Omar I swear it's not what you think! I was telling him to back off wallah! Whispering in his ear might not have been the best idea but he did it to me and it made me mad so I wanted to make him mad too! I wanted him to know I wasn't afraid of him".

"Doesn't look like that to me" he said sternly.

"Wait you don't really think I would do that?! Omar tell me you're joking" I said trying to hold back my tears and control my chocky voice.

No response.

I walked towards Omar and stares at the ground, "you know what's sad, that my own husband doesn't believe me. This is exactly what Jake wants, and you're handing it over to him".

Without hesitation I walked outside of the house. I had to get out before Omar or myself say something we will regret.
