Samjhana easily gave up. She didn't persuade me as usual, which was odd; I was eager to get away so, I brushed the thoughts away. She nodded, but her eyes didn't agree. Sometimes I wonder why she selected me of all people? After all she could have chosen Radhika or Adeela.
Taking her hand, this time I dragged her out of the place. We finally reached the mess. It was located on the extreme end of the camp. The whole area was lit up with bright lights. Huge wooden tables, almost thirty or so, were spread out.
Smell of melted cheese wafted towards me, but I was still feeling a little queasy after our little talk.
Akash waved his hands, calling us. My heartbeat increased, and I wetted my lips, forgetting I had applied lipstick. I swear, I have never applied lipstick ever since.
We quickly reached there, dodging huge crowds. My conversation with Sanjhana gradually erased from my mind, and I focused on Akash. He fist-bumped me, as soon as I sat down. Radhika gave me a knowing smile, which I chose to ignore.
The whole dinner was spent talking, joking about how bad the rival school children were singing and stuffing delicious food.
Sometimes I hate myself for having fun that night.
