Samjhana didn't return that night. Once or twice I asked Radhika about her, but Radhika dismissed it by saying she must have stayed in a tent or something. I knew something was wrong but I decided to ignore my gut feeling. Sometimes I wish I didn't.
After having gulab jamun for dinner, we all stayed there. Radhika kept muttering how delicious the food was. Akash and I had spent the entire evening talking about our childhoods, old pranks. He occasionally flirted and I had a hard time to slow my heart beat down.
As the night passed, we got merrier and noise just increased. After our teachers had retired for the night, a student blasted his radio. The songs slowly switched from rock to slow and romantic. Akash grabbed my hand and dragged me near to the open area. Students were already dancing, but we both stayed away from the crowd, as if sharing our own secret. We danced and danced. My feet were almost screaming with pain by the time I was done, but I couldn't stop smiling.
We returned to the table, and spent the rest of the night sipping hot cocoa and sharing stories under lanterns. Radhika had disappeared; she must have been talking with someone else.
The evening was too perfect to be true. Even now I get slightly dreamy whenever I think of it, and then feel guilty for thinking like it. Gosh, I wish I could stop blaming myself for what happened, but I just can't. I just can't...
