They found Samjhana's body the next day.

Radhika literally poured a glass of water to wake me up. Bleary-eyed we both walked to the river side. Mild wind was blowing, but the shock kept us awake. The ground smelt slightly musty, and there was a sheet over the body. Lips parted, we all stared at the body. Apparently, some kid reached the river side early in the morning for swimming even though it was illegal to even go near it.

He found the body, and called people. The trees bearing the riverside were tall, casting a shadow. Everything was just dark and sinister and foreboding.

No one spoke a word way back. Whispers were already flying, theories being made but no one dared to talk to us.

Soon the cops arrived. Things just escalated yet no one questioned us, once our alibis were confirmed. Sometimes I wish I had told them the truth. That she had warned me. That--
