Yes, I still kept the letter.
Dear Anika,
If you received this letter, it means I am probably dead. Just kidding. It can also mean that you found this day's latter; lurking near my sleeping bag. Also, if you are Radhika or Adeela, don't worry, I didn't forget you, I was just more biased for Anika that day. So, I decided to address this to her.
Now, on a serious note, this letter is important. If I am dead, of course. First thing first, after you ran away Anika to see that pretty boy of yours, it kind of stung. Remember, love is important, crushes are awesome, but never ever place your friends below it.
A tear escaped my eyes, blotching the paper. I hate myself, I thought, trying to numb my feelings. Sucking a deep breath, I continued.
Also, it's fine. I know how you feel. You would be sulking around, thinking this is all your fault; assuming I am dead. Remember, no one is perfect. Hell, there is nothing in black or white. We are all in shades of grey. We all make mistakes and we grow from them. We come out stronger, braver and happier.
I am sorry, I got off-tracked. I was reading a philosophy book today. Before I get side-tracked again, let me say this.
The camp is dangerous. No matter how good the food is, or the arrangements, it is a façade. Firstly, where does it get money from? A thousand rupees from each child is still not enough to pay all the instructors and run it so smoothly. I mean, it takes a bajillion amounts of money to pay for all this (especially for serving a three-course dinner), and they have zero donors. Zero.
Secondly, the river side is banned. But why? I tried to ask a lot of people, but all of the instructors and even some students shrugged it off. I investigated and found out a girl's body was found three years ago. Then why is this place still up and running? And no one even knows about it.
Thirdly, I found some students smoking weed. It is banned. And the worst thing, there was an demonstrator(part of the faculty) too. Why would a demonstrator be there? Also, whenever I tried to ask any questions, I always found vague answers. Even google won't help me. It's like this place doesn't really exist. I don't know why but there is something wrong with this place.
Lastly, I am done. I think I might be in trouble for asking a few questions. But it is all fine. With a little bit of stars and luck, everything is fine. Trust me, everything will be fine. I just love ending a letter in such a way.
Sanjhana.
