I wonder what else he can do with his mouth.
Crazy thoughts swirl through my head as I kiss Maverick. I trail kisses up and down his jaw, finally settling right behind his ear. His breathy pants and moans are making me soak my underclothes, but I couldn't care less at this point.
I wasn't expecting the best kiss of my life when I asked for the apology speech, but hey, a kiss-and-make-up is fine with me, too.
Honestly, with how close we were, how intense our gaze was, and how hot the tingles on our skin are, it's no surprise this is where we ended up.
I tug on his hair, forcing his head back a little so I can trail kisses down his neck. He groans in pleasure and I smile slightly, pulling his head again so his lips meet mine.
When we finally pull away from each other, we are breathing heavily and I'm sure I am blushing profusely. He is still holding me close, but pulls me in even tighter. His hand strokes my hair and he presses his forehead to mine and takes a deep breath.
"I'm so fucking sorry," he begins his speech. "I don't know how many times I'm going to say it, it'll never feel like enough to me, but I am." He closes his eyes and tightens his grip around me slightly. "I told you that I wanted to try this out and that wasn't a lie. I am so sorry that the first thing I did was freak out and ruin everything." He buries his face in my hair, I'm assuming out of guilt or embarrassment or something similar. I coax him out, though, and make him look at me before I speak.
"It's okay," I assure him when his blue eyes meet mine. "You fixed it." His eyes light up at my words as if he didn't expect me to forgive him so easily.
I wasn't going to, honestly, but he just proved three times since he ruined everything that he didn't mean what he said. I mean, he forced his bear out for fuck's sake. And I will never admit that I was completely turned on when he was threatening Marald to stay away. It makes me feel terrible because I don't think Marald deserved that, but he is acting strange towards the new guys, so hopefully, it will help.
I don't have any more time to think about Marald because Maverick presses his sweet lips to mine for a moment before he continues talking.
"I want to make it up to you. Go on a date or something, for real," he tells me.
I immediately nod my head and ask, "What did you have in mind?"
"I was thinking I could take you back to the waterfall, tomorrow," he says hesitantly, as if worried I'll reject the idea. Honestly, I kind of want to. I can't help the shiver that runs down my spine when I think of those creatures that attacked me.
"How do you know it's safe?" I whisper.
"I asked Narissa before I was planning on talking to you," he answers confidently, "she's pretty sure the only reason the Ceephins came down that far is because they sensed that you were hurt and weak and would be easy prey." I feel his guilt; he knows he's the reason I was weak. I relax a little, considering the idea of going back to the waterfall. "She's also pretty sure that Wyatt and I scared the rest far away, at least for a little while."
