Ariel and all of the female members of the New Directions are walking with their food so that they can eat their lunch outside. "Mercedes, what's the deal with you and Sam?" Tina asks. "You've been stealing glances in the choir room, and you still haven't told us what happened over summer vacation."

"Tell us," Sugar says.

"What happened?" Ariel asks.

"Okay, okay, okay, okay," Mercedes says. "It's true. Sam and I spent a lot of time together at the lake. And...we had a fling."

(Summer Nights sung by the New Directions)

All of the New Directions are sat in the choir room talking to each other. Just then Mr Schue runs into the choir room and says "Finn, give me a drumroll!"

Finn gives Mr Schue a drumroll while he grabs a whiteboard pen and writes the topic they are doing this week on the board. "Mar? Marry? Me?" All of the New Directions questions while Mr Schue is writing.

"Marry me!" Ariel says.

"Yes, I am proposing to Miss Pilsbury," Mr Schue says. All of the New Directions start cheering because they are extremely happy.

"I know. I know," Mr Schue says quickly. "This is the kind of news that you share with your family, and you guys are my family."

"Mr Schue, we're so happy for you," Finn says.

"We don't think you'll screw it up this time," Quinn says.

"Here's the thing. It's got to be perfect. I'm sitting down with Emma's parents to ask for permission, and then this proposal needs to knock her well-washed socks off," Mr Schue says. "And that's where you guys come in, okay? So the assignment for the week is to come up with a proposal number. And you know Miss Pilsbury. It's got to be perfect."

"Well, you can count on us, Mr Schue," Artie says.

Just as everyone leaves the choir room, Ariel turns to Mr Schue and says "Mr Schue. Can I talk to you quickly?"

"Yeah. Of course. Ariel. What do you want to talk about?" Mr Schue asks.

"I know that we haven't started looking for songs for regionals yet but I was wondering if you could consider one of my songs to sing. I've been working on songs since I've been in boarding school in Paris and I think that one of these songs would be perfect to sing at regionals," Ariel explains.

"We don't do original songs for competitions, Ariel. You should know this by now. Yes, you might have the lyrics but we need some for everyone so that they can learn them quickly and you also need sheet music for the band," Mr Schue says.

"But I-" Ariel starts to say.

"I don't want to hear it. Get to lesson Ariel," Mr Schue says. "I don't want to hear about your songs when we discuss the songs for regionals."

Ariel then walks away from the choir room while looking down as she is trying extremely hard not to start crying. Ariel's attempt to not cry fails because she starts crying while she is walking through the hallways to Math class.

The next day, all of the girls drag Mr Schue into his office, which is next to the choir room. "Right this way, please," Rachel says as she guides us to the office.

"For us to help you propose to Miss Pilsbury, we're going to need some salient information first," Tina says.

"Okay," Mr Schue says. "Come on, ladies. It's not like this is the first time I've ever proposed."

"Oh, yeah?" Santana asks. "How did that marriage work out for you? I mean, what was your big move then? A JumboTron that said 'Hey, Terri, I want to make a fake baby with you'?"
