"Everybody loves movies. They don't just tell stories. They transport us to other worlds. They are inspirational. They provide comfort and they help us escape from our day-to-day anxieties," Mr Schue says.

"Like getting left at the altar?" Kitty asks. Everyone looks at Kitty in shock because of what she said.

"Whoa. Too soon," Ryder says.

Mr Schue nods his head before continuing. "Exactly. Or in your guys' case, studying for exams or worrying about regionals. For this week's assignment, I want you to pick songs from your favourite movies."

"Yes," Ariel says while everyone cheers.

"Unique knows all there is to know about The Crying Game," Unique says.

"You don't get to dibs on Les Mis just because you are the poster," Kitty says to Marley.

"Hey, don't listen to her," Ariel whispers to Marley. "You are doing great and you need to stop listening to others' opinions about you and only think about your own."

"I can do my Nicolas Cage impression," Sam says while doing an impression of Nicolas Cage. "No, not the bees. The bees. No."

"That is the worst Nicolas Cage impression I've ever seen," Kitty says.

"Do you even know who Nicolas Cage is?" Artie asks.

"Okay. It's not that simple. This is a group competition, boys against girls, and we are doing mash-ups. Now, remember, movies are visual. So it's not just about the singing. It's about performance. It's about theatricality. It's about the language of cinema," Mr Schue says.

"Preach. And as I move into production on my first micro-budget features," Artie says.

"Wow," Everyone says in amazement.

"I'm happy to offer starring roles to whichever team wins," Artie continues to say. "No trailers, no per diem."

"Great. Everyone split up and start working on your song choices," Mr Schue says before walking back to the piano.

The girls then split into a group and start huddling around talking about their song choices. "We should do The Artist so we don't have to sing," Sugar says.

"How about Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes?" Abigail asks.

"Yes. I love that film," Marley says.

"Same. I remember when you made me watch it when we were handing it out in your dorm room in Paris," Ariel says.

"Yeah. Well, you're gonna agree with her as she's your best friend," Kitty says.

"Kitty. How about you shut your damn mouth. If you don't have anything nice to say then just keep it to yourself as you seem to be causing a lot of problems lately once you've said something so do us all a favour and shut the hell up," Ariel says getting tired of Kitty's attitude.

Later that day Ariel is standing at Tina's locker with Sam when Brittany and Blaine come up to us. "Brittany and I were talking-" Blaine says.

"And we agreed that though we love mash-up week and that it's girls versus boys," Brittany says cutting off Blaine.

"It sucks that the guys and girls can't do a number together, so we were thinking, just as a warm-up, we should do the guys versus girls in the same number to kick things off," Blaine says.

"And then the girls can kick the boys' butts," Brittany adds quickly. Marley, Ariel and Tina all made a yes motion with their arm.

"Or vice versa," Blaine says.
