A few weeks have now passed and It was nearing the end of the summer holidays and Ariel had had the time of her life. She has been catching up with Abigail and she has had more time to spend with Sebastian. She knows that the release date of her album is closing in but she knows that she doesn't have to do anything until she has to go to Nashville for meetings that are happening during her second and third week back at school.
She is currently on her way to Sebastian's house as he has said that he needs to tell her something important. She has been panicking on her way to his house because she is overthinking everything. 'What if he wants to break up with me?', 'What if he is moving away?' Ariel thinks while she pulls into his driveway.
However, when Ariel parks her car and gets out she stops in confusion because there is a car parked opposite hers which she doesn't recognise as she knows what his parents' cars look like as she has met them already and it's not Sebastian's as he has a red Ford Mustang.
Ariel continues to look confused as she walks into Sebastian's house. "Seb. Whose car is that out there? Cause I don't recognise it as it's not your parents or your car," Ariel says once she enters the house and continues to walk into the living room. She puts her bag on the chair next to her and that is when she realises that Sebastian is sitting down opposite a girl who looks around the same age as him and a guy who seems to be the girl's father and it looks like they are talking.
"And who do you think you are walking into his house without being let in?" the girl says angrily.
Ariel then looks at the girl in complete anger but before she can say anything back to her Sebastian cuts in and stands in front of Ariel and says while looking at her, "Whoa. Calm down, Princess." Sebastian then puts his hands on her cheeks and rests his forehead against hers. "I know that you are getting angry but you need to calm down. She didn't mean it. Just breathe." Sebastian and Ariel stay in that position for another minute or so before Sebastian moves away and sits down before pulling Ariel onto his lap. "I was hoping that you would turn up before they did as I wanted to explain this alone but it's probably easier to explain it with them around now," Sebastian says to Ariel.
"Who are they?" Ariel asks Sebastian while resting her head on his shoulder.
"Ariel, I would like you to meet Joe and Iris West," Sebastian says. "Joe, Iris. This is Ariel Hummel. My girlfriend."
"What?!", "I'm proud of you," Iris and Joe say at the same time.
"So what did you want to tell me?" Ariel says to Sebastian.
"You might want to sit down on another chair while I explain this," Sebastian says. Ariel then pulls over another chair next to Sebastian and sits down. "I don't know how to start this. I haven't had to explain this to anyone before."
"Oh. Please don't tell me that you are actually gay and just pretending to be straight," Ariel says with a look of horror on her face.
"No. I promise you that's not it," Sebastian says while laughing slightly. "I would just like to start by saying that I hope that this doesn't change anything about us. I'm still the same person I was before and who you know. You know how I haven't told you about my childhood before and how you met me in France to start with?"
"Yeah," Ariel says in confusion. "You told me that you would tell me when you are ready."
"Wait. Hold on. You were in France?" Joe asks.
"Yes. I will explain that bit while I'm explaining to Ariel," Sebastian says after turning his head to look at Joe. He then turns back to look at Ariel and says "Well, I'm ready to tell you. I have been for the past few days but I've been putting it off as I didn't know how to explain it to you then the day kept coming closer to them coming to visit and I kept putting it off for longer an–"
Sebastian is then cut off by Ariel kissing him. "I get it. Just please explain," Ariel says.
"Just let me get through this explanation before you interrupt me, please?" Sebastian asks.
"Of course," Ariel says.
"So," Sebastian starts. "My name isn't Sebastian Henry Smythe. It's Bartholemew Henry Allen but I like to be called Barry. I kept my middle name the same as I still wanted to be close to my dad. My whole life I have been running from bullies. When I was eleven, my mum was killed by something impossible."
"Barry. Your father killed your mother," Joe says.
"No, she wasn't. You weren't there," Seb shouts at Joe.
"Hey. Calm down. You can find out who killed your mother when you get older," Ariel says to Sebastian while grabbing his hands.
"Sorry," Seb says.
"It's okay. So your dad was put in prison for being accused of murdering your mother," Ariel says. "What happened next?"
"I went to live with Joe and Iris," Sebastian says. "I stayed there for a few years but I was still being bullied. The bullying got worse over the years and sometimes I ended up with a broken arm or a broken leg so Joe thought that the best thing for me to do was to live with my Uncle on my mother's side. So I moved here for a few months until my Aunt took me on a trip to France for a year which is where I met you for the first time. You did never tell me why you were walking around France in your school uniform."
"I escaped my boarding school for a few hours as I wanted to see the city," Ariel says.
"So she is a rich snob then," Iris mutters loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Who the fuck do you think you are talking about me like that? You don't even know me," Ariel explodes.
"Well, if you went to a boarding school then you must be a rich snob," Iris says louder.
"One. I'm not a rich snob. I was in boarding school because I got a scholarship to go there because of music. Two. For most of my life I grew up with my brother and father who was working two jobs to help me and my brother get by," Ariel says.
"Sorry. I shouldn't have assumed," Iris says in regret.
"It's okay," Ariel says. "Seb continue."
"Okay. So while I was in France I got Aunt Cathy to change my name to Sebastian Smythe which was before I met you and I spent the year in France learning French and talking to you and then I had to leave to come back here to start Dalton. And then I met you again when you came with Blaine to give the tickets to your school play," Sebastian explains. "Please don't hate me for not telling you earlier."
"Bas I don't hate you. You had the courage to explain that to me while they are here," Ariel says. "Yes there were a few interruptions but you managed to explain the whole story to me which takes a lot of courage and you found that. And I am so proud of you for being able to do that. I love you. I will always love you."
I love you too," Sebastian says.
