Ariel walks into McKinley High with a new confidence boost after her song was released in June. All the feedback she has received has been positive and a lot of people want to know when more songs are coming out. Abigail walks beside her through the corridor and all she has been receiving is compliments from everyone. "Hey. I've got to meet my brother before school starts and from what he told me, he is going to be in the cheerleader coach's office."
"Yeah. I would love to meet your brother. I want to see the guy you talk so highly about," Abigail says.
"Follow me then," Ariel says before grabbing Abigail's hand and pulling her to Coach Sue's office.
"Porcelain, Red, this is my daughter, Robin," Sue says. "I have loved the name ever since I was a little girl. It recalls hope and springtime and my favourite Bee Gee. Oh, she's the love of my life. And I'm so... so devoted to her." Sue then puts Robin down into her pram. "Kitty, get in here."
"Yes, Coach Sylvester?" Kitty says as she walks into the room.
"I need you to change Robin's diaper and then sing her a lullaby," Sue says. "Preferably something not yet butchered by the Glee Club. Good luck finding one."
"Can I sing her Tim McGraw by Ariel Owens? It came out over the summer and the Glee Club haven't had time to butcher the song yet?" Kitty suggests.
"Yeah. That is a good one. I spent most of my time over the summer listening to that song," Sue says. Ariel looks at Abigail who is standing next to her with wide eyes. "Porcelain, Red, this is Kitty. Kitty is my new head bitch. Like a young Quinn Fabray, except she's not pregnant, manic-depressive or in and out of a wheelchair."
"Shouldn't you be in college or something?" Kitty asks Kurt. "I thought gay people were all successful overachievers."
"I am a successful–" Kurt begins to say before Sue cuts him off.
"Ignore what Kitty thinks even if it is exactly what the rest of the world thinks. I'm very proud of you Twinkletush," Sue says.
"What is going on?" Abigail whispers in Ariel's ear. "Is she normally like this?"
"I have no clue but I'm surprised that she is being this nice. Normally she would have insulted him worse by now. I'm just glad she hasn't asked me to be a part of the cheerio yet as she normally asks me within 5 minutes of me being in here as she wants me on her team," Ariel whispers back.
"Now. Red. Will you join my Cheerios this year?" Sue says while turning her head to look at Ariel.
"I am still sticking to my decision. I will not be joining the Cheerios this year as my schedule will not allow it. There are things that I need to do that my manager is waiting on so I am not available to give up any of my free time to join the Cheerios," Ariel says.
"I will keep bugging you until you give in and say yes. Now scram," Sue says.
A few minutes later, Ariel and Abigail are sitting in the choir room with the remaining New Directions waiting for Mr Schue. "Glee!" Mr Schue exclaims as he walks into the choir room. "We are coming off of a national championship but it's time to look forward. And thanks to Glee now being the coolest club. This shouldn't be a problem. Yes, we've lost some big voices. But we still have some huge ones in here. And someone I don't recognise." Mr Schue then turns to Abigail and asks "Who are you?"
"Sorry, Mr Schue. This is my best friend Abigail. She moved here at the start of the summer and I didn't want to leave her alone on her first week of school," Ariel says while introducing Abigail.
"That is completely fine, Ariel," Mr Schue says. "I promise to do everything to replace the voices that we lost. And on that note, I'd like to introduce you to our newest member, the MVP of last year's nationals, Wade 'Unique' Adams."
