" Of course, sir. I'll look forward to our meeting. " I pat on the back of my business friend.
I turn around seeing young Jamie writing down the meetings. Poor boy. To be honest, I don't like seeing such a young boy spending the rest of his life writing down papers for a drunken inspector.
" Young Lad, " I interrupt his writing.
" Sir? " he alerts.
" Why don't you go ahead and have fun, at least for tonight ." I say to him
He immediately grins. " Really?! Oh thank you, Mr. Todd! " then he runs like some twelve-year-old.
~
I cover his eyes with my hands grinning if I could win this game. He chuckled.
" Oh come on, Ellie. I know it's you. " I let go of him. " You always know what to say, my love. "
He grinned and kissed my cheek. " You look wonderful. " I blush feeling flattered at his compliment.
^^
The whole party went we'll with some dances and cheers and little talks with some old friends. I had been drinking for a while. I already feel a little tipsy. Zach helps me balance. Was I spinning?
" Darling, I think you need some fresh air or some rest perhaps? " he takes the glass I had in My hand. Wait. How many glasses have I had?
I smile weakly at him as I feel my eyes drowsy. " No thank you, dear. I would very much be happy to take my glass back. " I reach for it but he yanks it away.
" Are you even aware that that was your 8th glass? " Holy What?!
I giggle and hiccup. " No. "
" That's it. I'll have the maids- "
I place my index finger on his lips shushing him. " I can take care of myself, thank you. "
I softly pat his chest and walk away tipsily. I spot a bottle of wine and sneakily took it along with a wine cup hiding it in my dress.
I go up the stairs and to the top balcony.
~
Someone pulls my coat from behind. I turn around seeing Lady Lillian. Oh no. Not here. Not now.
Miss Lady Lillian had always had this overly obsessive fondness of me. I'm pretty sure she stalked me... again.
" Todd. Hello, darling. May I have this dance? " she asked me with a smirk. Ugh! Suddenly, I feel disgusted.
" No, thank you. " I turn away quickly and yet she blocks me.
" Now we don't wanna ruin this beautiful evening now don't we, darling? " she caressed my face with her back palm.
" You forced me to do this. " I murmured and started to escape running away. Of course, she follows me running almost cheerfully.
" Run, run, as fast as you can! " she jokes and laughs following me from behind. I gain more speed up the stairs and hide inside a dark room.
She looks around but not in the corner I'm hiding. She went downstairs. Phew! I give a sigh of relief.
" You bloated goat! "
Someone yelled from upstairs.
" You taught me the courage of stars before you left "
The woman, I believe, sang with a drunken manner. Wait. Don't I know that song? And that voice, it's so familiar.
" Well, guess what, you tiny little ...rat! "
She pauses before saying the word ' rat ' , thinking of a better teasing name, maybe.
" Stars don't have courage because they're not even alive! I mean, " she snorts. " What gives anyway? "
The next thing I knew, I was climbing up the stars, eager to know as to who the woman is and what she is doing up there.
I kept climbing as I followed the drunk words that escaped from the mouth of a lady who is, talking to somebody up there?
I reach the tallest part of the mansion. The room is big and dark. It has gigantic glass windows that the moonlight passed through the transparency. The voice is growing nearer. I followed it and found myself walking to open doors that leads to somewhere. The voice is so clear that it is indeed there.
I walk to it and it's this wide open beautifully designed balcony. The moonlight is so bright and clear from here.
I turn my gaze seeing a woman right in the tip of the center of the balcony. She has long curly brown hair to her waists which is designed in fishtails. She's wearing a fancy blue dress. In her left hand, she is holding a half-drunk bottle of alcohol and her other hand is a half-filled wine cup.
" But did you know? Sometimes, when I'm alone, I would go by my window and gaze up at the stars thinking it was you looking down at me. And I knew every moment and every second, fate might someday give us a chance to meet each other again. "
I was blown away at her words. It almost sounded like Nel-...Mrs. Lovett...
wait. Wait a second...
Oh no. It can't be! Could it be?
Nellie?
