Sang’s POV
I looked up at the clock. I was doing ok on time. All I had to do was finish chopping up these onions and green peppers before Nathan got home from his morning run and took his shower. No problem. Browned meat, tomatoes, garlic, sauce, and spices were already in the three slow cookers on the counter behind me. Once the onions and peppers were mixed in, I’d be ready to leave for school.
I turned up the volume a little on my iPod. Might as well listen to some new music while I was getting everything ready to put into the slow cookers, right? Karen had been teasing me about my “lack of diversity” on my iPod. Meanie had put some dance songs on there, Victor had transferred a few classical pieces, and Silas had snuck in a few rock songs. I had added my Japanese rock collection. It was a nice mix, but Karen said it was sorely lacking- there was no country. She grabbed my iPod and synced it with hers, transferring a bunch of “new country” and few classics. I had to admit that what I had heard so far was fun.
I went back to chopping the rest of the onions and peppers as “Raised on It” began. I had danced around the kitchen a little as I was getting everything together. No one could see me, so no chance of embarrassing myself. Since no one else was home, I started singing along. Not loud or anything- it wasn’t as if I could sing loud if I wanted to. It’s just such a fun song!
Hey what's your name, you know smoke follows beauty, baby.
We stayed up all night long
Made our drinks too strong
Feeling ten feet tall
Ropes swinging into the water
In the middle of the night
I picked up the cutting board and turned around to scrape everything into the slow cookers, and I kept singing…
Like oh-oh-oh oh oh
And I stopped mid-scrape and mid-line. I felt myself blushing all the way down to my toes
“uh… hi, guys! How long have you been standing there?”
