The three of us were at a great start.
Then the pirates got greedy, but I expected nothing less.
They're pirates, for God's sake. Anyway, the pirates were arguing with Josie and Hannah because we wouldn't hand the treasure over to them.
I thought that it was my time to butt in. "We just told you guys that we would SHOW you our treasure so that you would take us seriously. We never said that we would hand over the treasure to you."
Blackbeard and Long Ben glowered at Black Bart. "You matey," Long Ben jabbed his finger into Black Bart's chest, "said that they would be handin over their treasure once we took them seriously. You said that you would split the treasure for us!" The pirate smiled nervously.
"Well, mateys, I was actually planning to take this for myself. I never intended for it to get like this."
Now it was my turn to glower at this horrible pirate. "You were gonna dupe us. You were gonna pretend to take us seriously, kill us off, then take the treasure."
Black Bart pretended to look offended.
"Why would you assume such a thing lassie? I was-"
"Oh save it! Don't try to trick us you-"
"Okay!" Hannah interrupted me before things could get real ugly.
Black Bart laughed. "Ah, so I guess you're not as gullible and foolish as I thought, young pirates. Well, treasure or no, I was going to kill you all anyway."
The smug look immediately melted from my face. "Y-you were gonna what?"
All three pirates raised their swords. Then, I heard someone scream, "STOP!"
