This chapter takes time in a time of medieval fantasy...

He was a humble traveler from a distant land, he traveled and hunted monsters and dragons, or so I said, I was just a poor con man.

I was going to a very distant city, near the enchanted forests, it is forbidden because it is said that deep down lay a tomb of one of the most powerful magicians, he had buried himself with a very powerful stone, and if there was a brave hero, All those powers and Knowledge would be granted to him, but until now all the brave men who entered never came back to say whether it was true or not, also the grave hunters entered and never returned, or so they thought.

This is my story of how I survived the enchanted forest.

I was resting my eyes in a tavern; I had a mug of beer in my hand when a group of bandits approached me.

-Care for a card game traveler? He had opened his eyes to see the table full of men with gold in their pockets.

- It would be an honor gentlemen. I approached my chair and sat at the round table, they spread the cards and I could see the boy next to me hiding a card under his palm, he was going to win, better deception.

I was in the first round when we placed our bets on the table; they placed coins and other goodies, while I placed a gold ring.

-Without fear traveler?. I laughed. - I believe in go big or go home my wise men. They hit me on the shoulder while they handed me my share of cards, while they played, I made sure to choose some pockets very carefully. - Your turn. I knew I was at a disadvantage, but I had to play dumb for a while.

-Oh, you got me, I am at loss. He smiled and took the profit out of him. - How about another game? I asked and put in some coins, everyone laughed. - I like you strange, you have guts.

They gave me the cards and I was still at a disadvantage, but I had to look for other ways to rob these men, I pretended that some of my cards fell, my gaze search their pants for coins and other valuables. -Sorry, I guess you win again. I dropped my cards on the table, showing my very unfortunate cards. -One more. I said and once again, they laughed. - I do not think you have more to bet strangers. I pulled out a very rare dagger; I had stolen it from a beautiful young countess, desperate for male attention.

 - The third try is the charm. Everyone was focused on the dagger and placed all of their most valuable possessions on the table, including a map; I could not help but laugh. What is that, a handkerchief? I smiled. - This is not an ordinary map boy, this is a map to find an abandoned castle in the forest, it is said that all the best riches are there, and there lies a very powerful stone, if taken by the right person, the stone will grant you a wish.

I smiled, I was ready. -Can I take your word for it? I asked and spread the cards, everyone nodded. - Well, my luck changes. While playing my hand of cards, putting them on the table showing a winning hand. - Ha, would you look at that? I win. I took all my winnings and took a sip of my drink as the men turned the table. - No need to lose your mind, it was just a game, right? Now, if you'll excuse me, I have riches to hunt. I leaned in and all the stolen items fell off my cape. They were stunned, so I took the opportunity and ran for my life.

I ran out of the canteen into the woods, I could hear them behind me calling out to me when I was sure I was a long way away, I made sure to pack well before dropping more merchandise, I hadn't realized the fog was getting more and denser it seemed to move towards me, I felt a tug on my cloak when I was caught by the hood of such, my body turned towards the three figures with a very angry expression, they had daggers in their hands. - You're going to pay for that boy.

He slid the dagger into my neck and pressed gently. -Sirs, I can assure you that everything is a great misunderstanding, we can solve this in a more adult way. One of his friends came over and punched me in the stomach, I coughed and he dropped me to the ground, crawling away from the figure, I spat blood. - All of you are going to pay for that. I said and glared at them, they laughed at me and kicked me some more, I covered my head as their kicks continued.
