SOFIA'S POV
After the shark diving conversation with James, I figure it's best to just do some more mellow activities. That way, he can't get mad at me and Ioane. We decide to go to the farmer's market today and help Ioane sell pineapples.

We have to get up early to set up our stand, and Leilani comes with us, sleeping in the back of the car on our drive up. When we arrive, I stay in the car with her while Ioane sets everything he needs up. Leilani looks absolutely adorable sleeping, and it's almost like my uterus aches watching her breathe quietly. I've always loved kids, and I always imagined that I'd be a mother growing up. I always wanted a big family. Now, I'm not so sure if that will ever happen. I don't know if James will ever be father material, and I could never subject a kid to his lifestyle of going out and sleeping with a new woman every night. Not that he was doing that any more—as far as I knew, he was only sleeping with Mara—but still. I could see him going back to his old ways.

Ioane comes back to the car, letting me know that he's all ready to go. He picks up his daughter, and we walk to his stand. There is a folding chair behind his stall, and I sit down and hold sleeping Leilani while several customers begin to walk up.

After about an hour, Leilani wakes up. "Pretty!" She points at me.

I smile at her. "Thank you Leilani. Are you hungry?"

She nods her head. I take out some cereal from her diaper bag and feed it to her while the locals come buy pineapples from Ioane. The day seems to go by fast. Ioane seems to be familiar with all the locals coming to buy from him. He chats with everyone happily, and I'm enjoying watching him do his thing.

"You really enjoy this, don't you?" I ask him. He's packing up the stall now. All the pineapples have been sold.

"It's a nice way to stay engaged with the community," he tells me.

"Com-oon-ity," Leilani babbles.

I grin at her. "Good job Leilani."

"What do you want to do now?" I ask him.

"We can go eat out for lunch. Want seafood?"

So we end up going to a seafood buffet together. Leilani eats mozzarella sticks when I put them on her plate, and I catch Ioane smiling at us. "What is it?" I ask him.

"You'd make a good mom," he says.

"You think so?" I think back to how Elizabeth keeps pushing me and James to have kids. I don't see that ever happening unless James and I were exclusive. I'd need him to stop sleeping around and help me raise a kid.

"I know so. I don't know how you were able to keep her entertained the whole time I was selling fruit."

"She's a good kid," I tell him.

JAMES' POV

Jackson and I head out for drinks after work, and he orders a round of tequila shots for the both of us.

"How is the apartment now that you're all alone?" Jackson asks.

"I'm hardly there. I work longer hours to avoid going home. Everything there reminds me of her, and for some fucking reason I've been having trouble sleeping. It's like I can't sleep with her not next to me. Yesterday it took me forever to sleep, and I still ended up waking at 6AM, so I called her."

"How did that go?"

"She keeps putting her life at risk to do all these crazy things with that fucker."

"What do you mean by putting her life at risk?"

"She just went fucking shark diving with him! And without a cage. She's batshit crazy," I tell Jackson.

"Let her live her life. If she wants to dive with sharks, that's on her," he says, shrugging.

"No! It's not just on her because it affects me too. What if something happens to her? How am I just supposed to move on if she gets hurt?"

Jackson meets my eyes evenly. "You really care about her, don't you? I've never seen you like this before."

"Of course I care about her," I snap. "She's my wife."

"Hey, no need to get pissy with me. I'm just telling you how it is. Are you in love with her?"

"Why does everyone keep assuming that?" I ask with irritation.

"Who is everyone?" He asks.

"Sarah, for one. She said something to me about being in love with Sofia at dinner a while back ago. I'm not in love with her," I say adamantly.

"Okay, that's fine. I just thought I would ask. Maybe you need to get laid. You're wound up so tight."

I run a hand through my hair. "Nah, I've been sleeping with Mara."

His eyes bug out of his head. "Your personal assistant Mara?"

I nod my head, ordering some bourbon. "That's the one."

"What if Henderson finds out?"

"He won't. He thinks I'm in a committed relationship with Sofia. Everyone does."

"Yeah, but this could cost you everything if they find out you're sleeping with one of your employees."

"It'll be fine. Mara knows this is a no strings attached, sex-only relationship. Nothing romantic about it."

"You never know how much women can get attached," Jackson warns.

I finish off my drink before ordering a ride home. I need to try to go to sleep early. If it is going to take me a couple hours to fall asleep like I did yesterday, then I need a head start. I say goodbye to Jackson before heading home.

On my ride home, I get a phone call from Sofia. I answer the call immediately.

"Hey," I greet her.

"Hi, how are you?" She asks me.

"I've been better," I tell her honestly. "You?"

"I'm good! Just had dinner," she says. "We're going to a watch a movie and then head to bed," she says.

I grit my teeth. She sounds happier than I've ever heard her, and I hate it. "I'm about to head to bed right now actually."

"Okay, I'll let you go then. I just wanted to check in," she says sweetly.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow," I tell her curtly. Listening to her talk about how much fun she's having with Ioane is only pissing me off. I need to go to bed and forget about her spending time with him.
