Chapter 12 - Competition

Angela's POV

It's already the last day of June, which is the Mathematics Competition. And.. her birthday. What can I get her for a present? Until something really good came out of nowhere. I will do my best to win this competition. Then, my trophy will be my present for her. I know it's corny, but that's how I show my love for her.

"I'll be going now, Mom." I wore my shoes and bid my goodbyes to Mom.

"Okay, Goodluck Hon. Just do your best okay?" I heard her calming voice around the room. I was about to open the main door when I heard her.

"I will, Mom. Love you!" I shouted when I exited the house. I also heard her response which made me smile. Thank you, Mom.

While walking to school, I can't stop thinking about my desicion. I have to win this. I'm sure she'll be proud of me. My thoughts stopped when my annoying friend ran and hugged me. Of course, it's Sofia.

"Goodluck sa laban mo mamaya ah. I'll pray na manalo ka." I smiled and thanked her. Naglalakad na kami papunta sa classroom namin nang madadaanan namin ang office niya. I wonder if she's her already. I wanna see her before the competition.

Actually the competition will be held here in our school. So, no need to worry about transportation.

I was about to turn right to our hallway when I heard my name. My surname actually. It's her. I love it when she calls me by my surname. So, I am smiling walking towards her.

"Good morning, Miss Andrea!" I giggled.

"Why are you laughing?" She asked with her cold tone. As usual.

"Nothing." I answered and change my mood to being serious.

"By the way, I wanted to say goodluck on your competition. I believe in you." She held my shoulders and told me those words, which made me think that winning the competition is worth it. Because it will become my gift for her.

"Thank you!". After that she told me to go class because it's already time. But it's only 6:30am. And the competition will start at 8. But in the end, sinundo ko yung utos niya baka magalit pa eh, umagang-umaga. I laughed while walking towards our classroom. Such a cute teacher.

Fast forward>>>

It's already 8am and the emcees' already greeted all the audiences. I am here at the backstage kase ipapakilala daw nila yung mga competitors. I'm a bit nervous but kakayanin ko itong panalunin. Sumilip ako sa labas and hinanap ko si Miss Andrea. There she was in front, looking cute and gorgeous. I smiled at her kahit na hindi niya ako nakita.

There are 5 schools competing for the championship, including us. So I have 4 opponents.

(A/N: wala na akong maisip na pangalan ng school. Basta lima silang magkaka laban.)

"Angela Denise Rodriguez, representing Ilvermourny University!" The emcee shouted, which is the cue for me to walk out from backstage. All my schoolmates are shouting and cheering for me. I saw Sofia with Crystal and her friends. They smiled and gave me a 'thumbs up'. Then, I looked at Miss Andrea again for the second time since the program started. She's also looking at me. She smiled and winked. Wait, what? She winked? I'm so happy that she chose to support me through the competition instead of celebrating her birthday. I'll make sure that she'll enjoy her day. I'm thinking of treating her in a restaurant again or we'll just hang out together.
