Chapter 25 - Surprise Visit

It's already the second to the last week of classes before Christmas break. Malapit na din ang periodic exams namin kaya I decided to start studying para naman kahit papaano I'm managing my time wisely. Hindi kagaya ng isa dyan, 3 days before exam day mag-aaral.

It's been 2 hours since I started studying and I think walang pumapasok sa utak ko. I need to do something. Kailangan ko ng mapag-aralan ang iba kong subjects dahil magiging busy naman kami dahil may Christmas party daw kami.

Isang araw ko ng hindi nakikita si Miss Andrea. And damn. Miss ko na agad sya. I think I'll go see her. You know, for inspiration.

I was about to open the door of my apartment when someone knocked thrice. My parents have the keys in here, they wouldn't knock. If Sofia will visit, she would text me first before going in here. So who could that be?

I want to know who might it be first before opening the door. I don't have peephole in my apartment, just like in hotels. Besides, I'm not expecting someone today.

I was first hesitant to open the door, 'cause it might be a stranger. Or worse, a kidnapper or a burglar. But when I opened the door, all my thoughts washed away and turned my expressions to surprised.

It was Miss Andrea.

What is she doing here?

(A/N: Reklamo ka pa? Pinuntahan ka na nga dito, ayaw mo pa?)

"Miss Andrea, what are you doing here?" I asked as I let her in my apartment.

She seems nervous at first because she uses lots of filler words. But she managed to answer my question. What's wrong with her?

"I, uh, I was bored and decided to go somewhere quiet. But I don't have someone to give me company."

"So, that's why you're here?" I responded with a question. She nodded as an answer.

Watching the people passing by while waiting for this lady to speak is what I'm doing right now. She brought me to a coffee shop near the school. I told her that I'm studying for the upcoming exams, but she insisted in taking me. So I had no choice but to study later.

(A/N: Tuwa ka naman. Diba yan ang gusto mo?)

Gusto ko nga, pero paano ako matutuwa if she won't speak. But anyways, her presence is enough for me.

I shifted my eyes from her to the people passing. It's a Saturday afternoon and people are taking their time to enjoy the weekend. I saw how their faces smiled and laughed with their loved ones.

"I wish I can be like them, too." she suddenly spoke after a long silence.

What does she mean by that? I looked at her with confusion, which I got a sigh as a response.

"You know, they smile and laugh as if they don't have problems in their life." My lips formed an 'oh' and sipped my iced coffee as I watched her drink hers too.

Why did she say that? Is she facing some problem? I looked at her closely, I just noticed that her eyes are red. It looks like that she just cried. What happened?

"Miss Andrea, are you okay?" I asked worriedly. She just looked at me and I looked at her pleadingly, trying to hear an answer from her.

She sighed and said, "I'm fine, it's nothing."

I'm not convinced but I'll not ask her anymore kase baka mamaya magsungit naman sya bigla. Ayos na nga ung pakikitungo nya sakin eh. Sisirain ko pa ba?

After eating some snacks from the cafe, niyaya ko syang pumunta sa favorite place ko here in our town. I saw how amazed she was as soon as we reached it. How cute.

"Ngayon mo lang ba 'to nakita at ganyan ka ka-amazed?"

"How long have you known this place?" She asked, eyes still focused on the view.

"Simula noong pumasok ako sa EU, this became my secret place."

This place has been my favorite hangout place. Dito ako pumupunta kapag gusto kong mapag-isa kung hindi man sa apartment ko. I'd rather be alone sometimes. Far away from these people and problems.

When we move out our old house, dito namin piniling lumipat since gusto ko nga sa EU pumasok. As soon as we got here, I started circling around the town. I really want to be familiar for every place kase baka biglang maisipan kong gumala mag-isa. So hindi ko na kailangan ng kasama if ever.

We stayed there for a while bago kami nakapagdesisyon na bumalik. Hinatid nya ako sa apartment since sy naman ang pumunta dito. I really don't want her to go yet, and I don't know where did I got the courage to tell it to her.

"Are you going home na?" I asked as I exited her car. She was kinda hesistant. What is she thinking?

"Can I stay longer with you?" With hesitation, she answered me with a question, too. A smile appeared on my face.

She wants to be with me.

I nodded and smiled at her. I told her where to park her car and escorted her inside. I have lots of memories here with her. I'm still not used with her attitude right now. She's being kind and soft. May ganung side pala ang isang Andrea Garcia. So cute. Kaya sa kanya ako eh.

"Himala, nagsisimba si accla!" Bungad sakin ni Sofia nang makita ko sya sa simbahan. It's a Sunday morning and I need to ask for guidance para sa upcoming examinations. Wala pa akong halos naaaral sa walong subjects. Nakapag basa-basa na naman pero isang subject pa lang. Si ano kase. Niyaya pa ako.

(A/N: So kasalanan nya?)

Wala akong sinasabi. Sinabi ko na lang na niyaya nya ako magkape. Yun lang.

We hangout a little bit sa bahay bago  naisipang matulog. I'm still worried about her. I can see sadness and anger in her eyes. What happened kaya? I can't seem to ask her for the second time.

"Dati pa kaya ako nagsisimba, every dumadating ang exam day." Pagbibiro ko sa kanya. Pero since bata pa ako, sinasama na ako nila Mom sa church.

"Please be seated." Napatigil lang kami sa pag-uusap nang magsalita ung katekista na pwede na kaming maupo.

It's time to listen for the homily.

Minutes have passed and the mass has ended. Niyayaya ako ni Sofia na gumala sa mall since Sunday naman daw at may pasok na ulit bukas.

"Kaya nga ako nagsimba para humingi ng guidance sa pag-aaral, tapos yayayain mo ako kumain. Wala namang use ung pagsimba ko." Pagdadahilan ko.

Sumimangot naman sya at iniwan akong parang nagdadabog na batang hindi nakuha ang gusto mula sa magulang. Natatawa akong lumapit at niyaya na lang syang mag-aral since ilang linggo na lang ay mag-eexam na kami.

Buti napapayag ko sya. Sabay na kaming pumunta sa apartment, manghihiram na lang daw sya ng komportableng damit.

"Bat parang biglang namotivate ka namang mag-aral ngayon? 2 weeks pa ang meron tayo bago ang exam day ah."

Tanong ni Sofia habang nag-aayos ako ng lunch namin. Naisipan kong magluto ng steak and buttered carrot and corn for us. Ang tagal na nung huli kong luto ng ganitong food.

"Wala lang, I just want to study early."

I secretly smiled at the thought of yesterday. I miss her already. I can't wait to see her again tomorrow.

Magsusungit kaya sya? I'd rather see the 'masungit' side of her than her soft side. Kinakabahan sa ako sa kanya. I might do something she don't want me to do. Baka biglang iwasan nya ako dahil dun. Pinaghirapan ko nga na pansinin nya ako tapos gagawa ako ng bagay na ganun ang consequence.

I can't wait to see you again, my love.
