Kaylee POV
I opened my eyes and immediately regretted it. The sun poured in through the window, making the room far too bright. I groaned as I stretched and rubbed my sleepy eyes. My mind was fuzzy and whirling from the hangover I was suffering from. I blinked in surprise as I peered down. Except for the thin covers that covered my intimate parts, I was completely naked. My heart began to race when I became aware of the figure laying next to me. Did I sleep with a stranger? I looked over and let out a loud gasp.
The figure next to me was none other than, The Sergeant, my traveling companion. I frowned and peered beneath the blankets, confirming that, yes, you were also naked. "Sergeant.." I gave your shoulder a shake. "Wake up, Sergeant."
The Sergeant moaned and you shifted your weight. You weren't planning on waking up quite yet. Your arms were curled around the pillow, and your face was buried in it. "Hmm..." "Sergeant!" I finally shouted, startling you awake. You sat up, scanning the area for a threat.
"W-what!? What is it?! Kaylee?" Your wild y/e/c eyes were unfocused as you glanced at me.
"WE SLEPT TOGETHER!" I yelled at you, a mixture of amusement and rage on my face. Before rubbing your face and gazing down, you appeared nearly perplexed. Your cheeks turned bright red.
"Wha...what?" You looked around, then laid back with a groan. "Ow, my head..."
"Sarge, that's what you call a hangover." I murmured as I looked around the room for my clothes. I caught a glimpse of my underwear, but my pants were nowhere to be found. The Sergeant's pants had also been abandoned by the floor.
Sergeant sat up and took a look around. "I....Uh.." your awkward taking turned into mumbles as you discovered your knickers and slid into them. I tried my hardest not to gaze at your nearly naked physique, but I couldn't stop myself. "Sorry!" you blushed as you looked at me."I'll get out and let you change.."
As you exited the room, I hesitantly smiled and gave you a thumbs up. I had to take a moment to get my bearings before I stood up. I slid into my panties and dashed to the closet, grabbing an old pair of sweatpants and a hoodie from home. I then grabbed your pants and opened the door.
In the hall, you were buttoning up your dark blue shirt. "Oh! Kaylee!!"
"Here." I offered you the pants, which you eagerly accepted and climbed into. I blushed a little as I saw your shirt half-tucked into one side of your slacks. "Uh...so..."
You also touched the back of your neck. "So... About last night..." said the Sergeant, breaking the stillness.
"It's fine," I hastily clarified, "We were both drunk! It was only supposed to be a one-night stand." The Sergeant tensed, then smiled, which I hoped wasn't forced.
"Exactly, it was only a one-night stand! I'll make you breakfast," you joked. You abruptly turned around and walked away, leaving me speechless. A part of me knew it was more than a one night stand. While I couldn't remember much, I remembered your loving touch and the sweet words you whispered. I nearly collapsed when I realized the word "love" was used.
Does this imply that the Sarge loves me? I pondered the question in silence. I shook my head and turned crimson red. No! Don't let yourself give in!! Before stepping to the kitchen, I took a deep, soothing breath. The Sarge stood at the stove, your gaze fixed on the sizzling dish of bacon below.
I couldn't stand passing up this chance to be with you. "Sarge?" I said softly. You jumped to attention, a false smile on your face.
"Yes, Kaylee?" You inquired, apprehensive about my next choice of words. I was convinced I could hear your heart pounding in your chest.
"Last night...
In bed...
You said something, and I need to ask you if its true" My pulse was quickening. I saw your face fall and you frowned.
"Ok..." you say as you reduce the heat to low and cover the bacon. You waited while staring at me. You looked like a disobedient puppy who needed to be chastised by its owner.
"You said..." I exhaled deeply and turned my gaze away from you. "That you loved me..."
You paused as you remembered the previous night. "I did." You kept your face downwards, hiding your thoughtful y/e/c eyes. Your hair was a mess, I noted.
"Sarge," I said as I rose to my feet and walked in front of you. I attempted to make eye contact with you, but you refused to look up. As though you're embarrassed. "Do you..."
You stopped, attempting to come up with a response. Then you looked up, your eyes bright with tears that hadn't yet been shed. "Kaylee, more than anything."
I didn't know how to react. I didn't have to, because you cupped my face and gently pressed your lips to mine. I melted into your touch, cupping your face and kissing you back. I felt like I was on cloud nine. You hummed and grinned, your eyes shining with admiration. "I.." I smiled softly, "I love you too.
