Kaylee noted the absence of Y/n throughout the day, but especially at dinner. She sensed something wasn't right, right away. Even if you didn't eat, you would generally join her at the dinner table.
Tonight, though, this was not the case. Kaylee hasn't seen you all day, and when she text you, she didn't get a response. Your shoes were still by the front door, so she knew her girlfriend was home. She was perplexed as to why her texts were not being answered, then she realized Y/n's phone had been left on the counter.
You never left the house without your phone with you.
She hurriedly cleaned up and rushed upstairs in search of you after sitting through dinner worrying about her girlfriend's whereabouts. Kaylee assumed you were in their room and proceeded down the corridor in that direction.
Kaylee arrived at the door, but instead of entering, she listened for you. In the room, there was no sound. There was no need to get worked up about it; after all, you didn't show any indicators of anything alarming. Despite this, Kaylee became increasingly frightened as she approached closer to the knob. Something isn't right.
She creaked the door open slowly, glancing around the room, waiting for her suspensions to be verified.
Kaylee could see into the room because the door was ajar. She scanned the room before settling her gaze on you, but not in the way she had anticipated. Kaylee had no idea what she was expecting.
Despite the fact that the room was extremely hot, you were wrapped in heavy blankets that swallowed you. Only strands of y/h/c hair peeked out the top of the blanket, which Kaylee could see. Kaylee wanted to believe you were just asleep, but the fact that you were shaking told her there was more to it. It was barely unnoticeable.
Silently, Kaylee entered the room and softly closed the door behind her. Y/n was facing the other way so she walked over to the other side of the bed and knelt down in front of her.
Despite the fact that your eyelids were closed, you were not sleeping. When the taller girl noticed your crimson tear-streaked cheeks in the dark, her pulse raced. She felt everything was ok, and everything had been well up until this point. Maybe things were never going to be fine.
Kaylee gently placed her hand on your shoulder. She didn't want to say anything since she didn't want to scare you, so she waited for you to look at her. Your eyes flew open quickly, and they were colored red. Kaylee was lost, she had no idea what to say in these circumstances.
She's seen you sad before, but she's never seen you like this, even after from shooting your film all day or recording artists.
"Y/n, what happened?"
There was no answer. By the way you shifted further into your blanket, it appeared as though you had suddenly realized Kaylee was in your presence.
Kaylee wasn't sure whether the words were reaching you, but she kept trying. "I was anxious because I didn't see you at all today. I'm not sure what happened or if you can hear me, but I'd like to help you."
Y/n gave a small, almost unnoticeable nod. As long as you could understand her, a nod was all Kaylee needed.
The covers were pushed off your sweaty body with fear. Kaylee watched as you sat up to hug your knees. The other girl squished herself against the bed frame as much as she could. To keep Kaylee from seeing the inevitable, you averted your gaze and gripped your knees even closer.
Kaylee moved to the bedside table and turned on the little lamp to get a better look at you. Despite your red eyes and mascara that was still moist and streaked across your cheekbones, you looked fine. She examined you more closely till her gaze fell on your thighs, which were obscured by a pair of pale hands. Between your fingers, the edge of a red gash was peeking out.
When the other girl noticed Kaylee's gaze fixed on her legs, she turned away. Her hands touched you, asking permission to move them. You didn't move at first, but eventually did, revealing four large cuts over your thighs. Three of them are shallow, whereas one is deeper than the others.
Kaylee was wary of what she was about to say next. She didn't want to in any way irritate you. "Did you do this?" She inquired. Kaylee wished she was mistaken, hoping that everything had happened by chance.
Y/n eventually said, "It's pathetic."
Kaylee wasn't expecting you to speak, but she was delighted you did, despite the fact that her reaction had killed you. The burnette was tempted to cry, but she refrained. She didn't contact Danielle or Jenny to help her gorgeous girlfriend fix up your beautiful leg. Kaylee was at a loss for what to do.
Kaylee corrects you, "It's not." She didn't want to injure the other girl by pulling you into a huge hug. Instead, she posed a new question, thinking that it would not be too difficult for you to answer.
Kaylee breathes a sigh of relief as Y/n slowly nods. This was more than enough damage. There shouldn't be any more injuries, and if I'd realized earlier, this wouldn't have happened, Kaylee thought.
Since the cuts had stopped bleeding, they must have been from a long time ago. She was aware that they would need bandages and probably stitches. Kaylee took a step forward, causing you to take a closer look at her.
"Are you going to leave?" You inquired
Leaving? "I only need to get first-aid stuff from the bathroom," Kaylee said quickly. "I'll be back in a minute."
While Kaylee went inside their restroom, Y/n went back to supporting her knees. She knew it wouldn't take long because the first aid kit was there under the cabinet, but she came to a halt when she returned to the room. The garbage can caught her eye with a glint.
Kaylee knelt down to examine. When she realized it was one of her razors, her heart sank. She observed the balls and balls of bloody tissue under the garbage when she looked closer. Kaylee quickly returned to the room, deciding to deal with it later because she was taking too long.
She sat down next to you on the side of the bed and adjusted the dim lamp to make it brighter.Your legs extended from being hugged into your chest so Kaylee could get a better look.
"Do you mind if I use disinfectant on it?"
Kaylee knew it had to hurt, and she felt awful about it since she knew the medicine would make it worse. However, she learned from basic first aid that the cuts needed to be clean to avoid infection.
Y/n nodded, her gaze falling on the wounds she had inflicted on herself. You felt bad for inflicting so much misery on Kaylee when all you wanted to do was hurt yourself.
She cautioned, "This is going to hurt."
After then, there was no reaction, but Kaylee was patient. The other girl put out a soft "okay" after a while.
She then took a clean towel and poured the liquid on top of it. Kaylee looked at you for assurance as she held the towel over your legs. The cloth pressed lightly against your skin when you nodded. Kaylee kept looking at you to see if you needed a break but your face never changed. There was no wincing or groaning to let Kaylee know that you were in pain.
After a few minutes, the procedure was completed, and the wounds were bandaged. Kaylee reorganized their first-aid kit and remembered herself to toss the trash, along with the unused razors, out the next day.
When Y/n saw Kaylee return inside the room, she said, "Thank you."
"Thank you for letting me help you," She responded and hopped onto the bed. She wanted to ask why all of this happened but decided that she's gone through enough today. "I love you and I'm proud that you're trusting me."
"I love you too," Y/n says.
Kaylee swears she sees her smile.
