“Choi Beomgyu, who is this person?”
Beomgyu looked over his shoulder to find Dakyung standing in front of his uncovered canvas painting that he'd presented as the final assignment for the last semester, the one for which he'd realized his feelings, the one he was about to show Taehyun how beautiful he was in Beomgyu's pov.
Dakyung was so annoyed at the scenario that she could even tear it into pieces right then and there. She glanced at the other covered paintings too. Clenching her jaw, she started to pull off the covers of all his paintings, the same scarlet-haired boy coming to her view in each of them.
Beomgyu quickly got off the bed, running to her.
“I told you to not touch anything!” Beomgyu snatched the cloth from as she stood there frozen.
“So many paintings of one person…that means…whatever people say about you…it's true…” Dakyung started quietly as Beomgyu turned away to face her with bewilderment. “Choi Beomgyu, by any chance, are you not over your ex yet?”
“Huh…what do you mean?” Beomgyu faced away from her. Dakyung let out a hushed laugh, and then it loudened with each passing second, confusing the older.
“How dare you play with me!” She threw everything on the table in one swipe.
“What do you think you're doing—”
“I'm going to ruin all of these!!” Dakyung picked up a paint tube, ready to squeeze it out when Beomgyu snatched it from her to throw it away.
“Have you gone crazy, Dakyung?” He screamed at her face.
“You're the one who's crazy! You're the one who keeps thinking about someone else while dating me! You thought I didn't notice how your eyes are always searching for someone huh?” The girl pushed his chest. “How dare you do this to me!”
Beomgyu chuckled, running fingers through his hair. “Why are you acting as if you love me or something? Ain't I an object for you to show off to your friends?”
Offended, Dakyung was taken aback. But then she scoffed, “You're the same, Choi Beomgyu. Ain't I also an object for you to cover up the fact that you still love your ex boyfriend?”
Beomgyu flinched, this time Dakyung was the one smirking. He was about to come up with a contention when she raised a hand to make him stop.
“Whatever, since now I'm very much aware of the whole situation, it'd be better if we break up at this moment. I do not wish to be a part of this pathetic game of making your ex jealous, okay? Goodbye!”
Beomgyu waited until the sound of his main door clicking resonated. He let out a mocking scoff at himself before looking back at the mess.
“Whom am I fooling?” He mumbled, his eyes stuck at the paintings of a specific beautiful male; giggling, shying, kissing and what not.
Beomgyu walked back to his bed to fall on his back, taking out a pack of cigarettes to place one in his mouth.
He then remembered something, hastily took out his phone to go to the recordings file and pressed on the latest one.
He never got the chance to mention it to Taehyun but whenever the younger used to call him from his work in that midnight bar, he'd record the younger's voice to help him cope whenever he needed.
“Even without saying a word
I can tell from your eyes
From your cold heart
From your deep voice
And that light smile
You’ve been through a long day.”
