❝ And just as quick as it started their
visit had finished ❞
╰━ ⋅☾⋅ ━━✶━━ ⋅☽⋅ ━╯Lily sat on the couch her knees brought up to her chest as she sipped on a cup of warm herbal tea, her eyes growing heavy from lack of sleep, her cheeks itchy from her salty tears, and a fuzzy cotton blanket wrapped around her entire body.
The Christmas lights hung up around the room reflected on her face as she looked out the window at the snow falling on the ground. Everyone else in the house was sound asleep and tucked into their beds each in their rooms as she sat silently in the living room.Holidays without her mum's constant baking and her father's slightly inappropriate jokes felt weird, the idea of not having to hear her sister's repetitive nagging was enough to make her feel sick.
Lily had always had a close family, even if she did spend most of her years away at school, or when Petunia and her relationship wasn't the smoothest she always cherished the idea that she still had a family.
But that was now past tense, and Lily couldn't feel more broken.Remus walked down the stairs, his body covered in goosebumps as he tried to adjust to the cool air. He was heading towards the kitchen when he stumbled upon lily balled up on the couch.
"Lily?" Remus whispered sitting down next to her. He brought his hand up to her cheek wiping away the tears rolling down her face, in a way to comfort her, so she knew he was present and listening.
A fake smile made its way across her lips as she was about to confirm that she was fine, "I'm all good really, just thinking"
"Don't do that, don't act like you're all good and happy when you're not" he whispered giving her a frown. Her smile was immediately wiped off her face, she sniffled as she just let the tears stream down her face, "you know I'm not okay" she said letting out a whimper as she pulled him into a hug.
"I know Lils," he said rubbing her back "let it all out"
It was so unnatural to see the fiery redhead so upset. The boy had only ever seen her as strong and well put together, but the death of her parents seemed to unravel her mental state.
She rested her chin on his shoulder, "it's just- it's so hard, y'know, and-and everything thing I do reminds me off them. I just can't seem to wrap my brain around the thought that I no longer have a family to call my own"
Remus pulled away from Lily's hug and looked her in the eyes, "Lily June Evans, I promise you with everything in me that you will never be alone. You will always have me, Mari, Marlene, Cassie, Sirius, even Peter, and you will always have James. Lily, we are your family, maybe not your biological, but we are family nonetheless" he said as she nodded along.
