"Mia? What- what do you mean you saw Mari?" Lily stuttered in a whisper as James grabbed her by the wrist leading the two down the hall to Dumbledores personal wing.
"I just ran into Marigold at St. Mungos, poor thing looked a wreck," Mia said as the two teens led her through the corridor.

James' face filled with concern as he stopped dead in his tracks, "why were you at the hospital?" his eyes looking over to his mother who just dismissed his question.
"Just a check-up dear, nothing to freight over" she reassured, but James knew when his mother was lying. He could see the guilty look that was smeared across his face.

"Why is she at the hospital? Is she safe? She's not ill or anything is she?" Lily asked, a multitude of questions spilling out of her mouth, her voice laced with fear but a hint of relief knowing that she was at least in a place where she could access help if needed.
"shes studying, Marigold is taking part in a prestigious healing programme," the older woman said scoffing as her mind trickled back to the image of the petite blonde, her face slimmer, her normally chubby cheeks more hollow than the last time she had seen her, her under-eye bags darkened from lack of sleep, Marigold seemed to be deteriorating.

"This whole ordeal is bloody outrageous!" Mia roared, causing James and Lily to double look at the woman who had only ever cursed a handful of times, "Mari is under my guardianship until her mother and brother return from hiding, I promised Belle I would keep her daughter safe, I expected better from Albus, truly! Take one of my kids and send them off without a word!" the woman ranted under her breath, her blood boiling.

"James, I'm gonna go find Remus and tell him the news," Lily said squeezing James' hand as she pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, "can you manage without me?" she asked letting go of his hand.
"we will be fine"

"Lily, tell him I would like to have a word with him before I leave" Mia requested as she sent a warm smile to the redhead.
Lily nodded as she broke off from the mother and son in search of the lycanthrope.

James led her straight the large wooden door of Dumbledores office, Mia pulling her son into a tight hug, "I'm sorry we couldn't have seen each other on better circumstances" she said as her hand made its way to the back of his head pulling him in closer, she just needed to feel that he was safe.

"Be honest with me mum, is she doing well" he looked over to his mother who took in a deep breath.
"she's safe, but she's terribly overwhelmed. I presume it's from being overworked and not having anyone to talk to. But she's not in harm's way and that's what's important" she said placing a kiss on her son's temple.
