Monday, January 17, 2005 (Forks High School)

As we pulled into the parking lot of Forks High School and parked I jumped out quickly and dropped my messenger bag over my shoulder.

"Are you going to be okay alone? I have to go and hand in some late assignments or I won't get the mark." Bella nodded and I reached into my bag and grabbed a slip of paper that had my number and email on it.

"You can reach me through these both, don't hesitate if you need something." I rushed off to my first class, English, and handed in the paper that was a week late.

The English teacher is usually really lenient towards me because most of the work I hand in is beyond what's expected. I already knew the classes routine. I grabbed my book from my bag and began reading for the hour we're given. After the hour was up I wrote a report on the chapters I read. I sat and read my own book for the last 10 minutes of class and got up when the bell went off. I meet with Emmett Cullen in the hall and he tossed my hair before we continued our way towards class.

Next was Physics class, most of it was textbook work. Emmett struggled with trying to understand the quantum theory but with a little help he eventually caught on. I took the notes that were needed and highlighted the important information well Emmett just scribbled down his notes well chuckling at my organization. The booklets for today's work was handed out and we filled in all the questions for the day. We collected our stuff before Emmett and I left milliseconds before the bell went off.

My last class before lunch was History. I was always highly invested in the class and it was where my best grades came from. Recently though we got a supply teacher since our original teacher was away on maternity leave. I would've been fine with this if the new guy wasn't constantly attacking my work ethic. He was constantly pointing out that I wasn't spending enough time doing work.

Today was just another day where I was done my work "too quickly" as he put it. I was leaning back in my chair reading as everyone else went between reading the textbook and answering the questions on the worksheet.

"Miss. Hill, get to work." I looked up from my typical true crime book towards the front where Mr. Tanner stood.

He was an old man with a receding hairline and a large bald spot in the back of his head. He wore grey suits that were too long for his height of 5' 4" which made him less intimidating but equally as annoying. His brown hair was combed over to try and hide his balding. He one of those moustaches that's cut too short and made most people uncomfortable.

"I finished, 5 minutes ago." His eyes narrowed into a glare and he began acting as though I was challenging him.

"In 10 minutes?"

"I know the material. I'm good with dates and events, sometimes details if it's interesting enough." I gave him an extremely forced smile and pulled my book out of my lap and went back to reading.

I got maybe 5 words in when I heard those annoying dress shoes and my book was ripped out of my hands.

"If you're so good with dates and event when was the Battle of Bunker Hill?"

"June 27, 1775."

"Siege of Béxar."

"October 12, 1835 to December 11, 1835."

"Casualties and losses in the Battle of Namozine Church?"

"95 killed out of the 1,000 US soldier sent out by George Armstrong Custer and out of the 700 Confederate soldiers sent out by Fitzhugh Lee, an unknown amount of them died well there were 15 known soldiers wounded and 350 were captured." Mr. Tanner began to look extremely annoyed well I kept my calm composure.

"What was the cause of the 1970 Augusta Riot?"

"It was a two day event the happened on May 11 to May 12 in Augusta, Georgia in 1970. The riot was caused by black citizens' grievances about racial injustice and white officials' intransigence. The parties to the civil conflict were black civilians, Augusta Police Department, Richmond County Sheriff's Department, Georgia's National Guard, and Georgia's State Patrol. Methods used in the riot involved firebombing, ransacking, and police brutality. There were 6 deaths and more than 80 injured. Would you like more 'cause I can go on all day?" Mr. Tanner stared at me before smirking at me.

"Wrong."

"Pardon?"

"You're wrong, it happened July 27 to July 31." He went to walk away with a look of pride.

"Actually, Sir, it was May 11 to May 12." He turned back around before demanding someone looked it up.

"May 11 to May 12." I looked towards the back to see Jasper Cullen smirking proudly as he held up the textbook to the 1970 Augusta Riot as everyone applauded me.
