I walked through the greenhouse as I looked at the plants. Alice and Jasper walked together since Alice honestly helped him control his hunger better than I can. I had no interest in what was around me so I didn't bother to pay attention to what was being said. It wasn't like there would be a test or anything. I spent most of my time though watching Jasper closely.

It came with imprinting to want to protect your imprintee. It was instinct, even if I knew Jasper could handle himself. I dug my hands deeper into my pockets as everyone left the greenhouse. Mostly everyone was fooling around and playing with the worms so I made an effort to get to the bus as fast as I could. I watched outside the window as Bella and Edward talked, I couldn't hear them due to my hearing not being up to vampire standard, but I could tell Bella was angry.

As I get off the bus a horn immediately honked at me and my name was called. Sam, he was being overly and annoyingly protective of me. I opened the door to his black truck and threw my bag onto the floor between my legs.

"You can seriously stop, I'm not a baby, and I certainly don't need a babysitter."

"How about a cousin who cares about your safety?" He started up his truck and we pulled out of the parking lot, he made it a point to drive past the Cullens.

"I love that you care about me, but I need you to understand that Jasper is who I imprinted on and I can't change that. It physically hurts, to not be allowed to see him because you say so." I moved to face Sam as he watched the road.

"What if you couldn't see Emily because I, your cousin, said you couldn't. Not only would that be ridiculous, but it would hurt you because you love her. I would never do that to you, or to Emily."

"Fine, but you have to promise me that you'll stay out of whatever leech drama they get into." I nodded and kissed Sam's cheek before turning on the radio but left it at a low volume.

"You know, you're the closest thing to an older brother I have."

"What about Jacob?" Sam looked over at me as we came to a stop light.

"He's younger than me."

"Got it, so does that mean I get big brother privileges?"

"What the hell are big brother privileges?" He chuckled at my obviousness.

"You'll see." A smirk crossed his face as my face scrunched up.

"I don't like the sound of that, like at all." He pulled into the reserve and we drove straight to the small house he shares with Emily, his fiancée.

"As much as I love Emily, why are we here?" I opened the door to the truck and jumped out with my bag.

"You look like you need a good meal."

"The boys feed me great." I followed behind Sam closely as we walked up to the door.

"As much as I hate what I'm about to say, when was the last time you drank any animal blood?"

"About a month, why?" Sam kissed Emily before turning to me and forcing me to sit down.

"You need to drink some, you're looking sick."

"And how am I going to get blood?"

"Since you can't hunt I'll find a deer or something and bring it down, you need to drink something." He took off his shirt and kicked off his shoes and walked back to the door.

"Get some homework done or something."
