Tuesday, January 25, 2005 (after school)

I stood beside Emmett as he teased me about a book I had been recently reading.

"How was I meant to know it had hardcore sex in it?" I blushed as I shoved the book farther into my messenger bag.

"Didn't you read the summary?" Emmett laughed at me as Jasper got into our conversation.

"Or is that the way you like it?" I whipped around and slapped Jaspers arm.

"No, it was recommended and I was stupid to trust the librarian." I grabbed my helmet from Edward before walking over to my bike by Bella.

"Hey, Bella." I waved to her as I leaned against the tire of her truck.

She jumped slightly and pulled her head phones out.

"You scared me." I chuckled and pushed myself off her truck.

"How's the motor in the old lady holding up?" She gave me her normal awkward answer as I smiled.

"That's good to hear, Jake and I spent hours fixing her up." I suddenly got an off putting feeling and turned around to see Alice freezing in her spot before hitting Jasper and Edward.

I watched Tyler Crowley's black van spin out of control on the ice. If I had just thought a little faster than maybe I would have remembered more than Jasper grabbing me and rolling under Bella's truck with me.

"Jasper, you need to leave, now." I held my palm firmly against the ground hoping the rocks that were stuck in my hand would stop the bleeding.

"Jasper, now." He stared at me one last time before rolling to the other side and running off in a flash.

"Alex!" I was pulled out from under the truck by Mike.

Bella and I were both taken to the hospital by ambulance. I had minor injuries in my hand that needed a stitch or two.

"How's my favourite patient?" I smiled at Carlisle and held up my injured hand.

"Couple stitches in my hand, nurse said you'd come to see if I need a splint or not and explain how to take care of it." He smiled and took a look at my hand and the couple stitches.

"You'll need a splint to keep your thumb and hand from moving. You need to keep the cut dry for the first 24 to 48 hours. After then don't soak it but wash around the cut with clean water 2 times a day. If you use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol it can slow the healing process. Cover the cut with a thin layer of petroleum jelly and a nonstick bandage before putting the splint on. Change it out as much as you need. Is someone coming to pick you up, if not Rosalie can drop you off on the boundary." I shook my head knowing that Sam would be picking me up in a pissed off mood.

"Sam said he'll pick me up, though I'm sure I'll get a lecture." I let Carlisle put the split on before I grabbed my bag and dropped it over my shoulder.

"Is Bella okay?" Carlisle nodded as he held the door open to me.

In the hallway Sam was yelling at nurses before screaming my name down the hall.

"Alexandra Hill!" I stepped out into the hall and flagged my over protective cousin.

"Sam, over here!" Sam ran over and picked me up as he already began his rant.

"You're stupid, so stupid, why weren't you paying attention to what was going on around you?"

"I froze, it's a normal human reaction."

"Well you're not human." Sam's grip on my shoulders tightened as I winced.

"You're right, I'm not. But I still have the brain and thoughts of one. Now can we please get my bike." I pushed past Sam careful not to hit my left hand.

"I already picked it up, it's in the truck."

"Then take me home, I need to sleep."
