"That is a really stupid thing to say. He's your husband, he'll be completely okay to drive, especially when it's this late" Ammi argued again for the tenth time. "Its not really our place to say Ammi" I said absentmindedly. "What? Amu is everything okay?" Ammi's voice filled with concern. "Ammi.. I mean, you know me, it doesn't matter if it's my husband or someone else, I don't like to bother anyone" I covered up, trying to sound as casual as possible. "That's funny! Things have changed now beta. You'll catch on eventually" Ammi said as she laughed a little and my heart lightened hearing her. "Leave all that! How's Abhi?" Our conversation continued for another half hour before Kaif came back. Since I didn't really have anywhere to be, I stayed in which in turn made him stay out of house. I believe he usually stayed out even before marriage, not that I really care. Heck! I stopped caring the day I discovered there's no hope to things changing. I anyway have a list of backups for weekends henceforth. I've planned on not staying in the house during weekends and weekdays is quite easy as I would be asleep by the time he comes back. I've had the library, park and the children's home nearby for when its darker on my list, even Dhrithi is on the list in case she decides to invite me again. I'm sure I would have to do some serious persuasion to do to be let in the children's home but I'm hoping my previous experience certificates would come in handy. Even though i'v always enjoyed teaching kids at the orphanages, I still feel selfish for using it as an escape from my violent marriage. "I've told you a thousand times not to touch my things!" Kaif shouted making me flinch. Ugh! There it goes. "But I did not" I spoke as I got off the bed and walked towards him. "Then what the hell is this" He shouted yet again grabbing the stacked clothes inside the cupboard and throwing it on my face. I hissed when a piece of clothe hit my eye as my eyes were wide open, not expecting that move. "What is going on?" Mami Ji's panicked voice caught my attention as I found her standing near the door. "Mami Ji, it's nothing, down worry, just go, everything's fine" I said, pushing a smile as I guided her to the hall dismissing her hesitance. "I asked you a fucking question!" He yelled, pointing to the now crumpled up shirts lying on the floor which were earlier neatly ironed and folded. "I.I don't understand. What did I do wrong?" I asked clueless. "Did I ask you to take care of my clothes? I'm not going to pay for any of this shit! Now clean up this mess and after that I don't want you touch my things and this will be the last time I'm warning you" He said, hatred clear in his eyes before he fumed out of the room. What is his problem? What exactly did I do wrong? He hates me so much that he don't even need a reason to express his anger on me.
"With a month left, I believe we'll definitely finish this before the deadline at this pace. Great job on that! I would want to appreciate Amyra especially. I mean all of you are doing a great job but understanding, recoding and then correcting something another person have done is no walk in the park and she did that wonderfully. So well done Amyra" Ayaan said, a slight nod at me and I grinned happily as the team clapped for me. It felt like all those hours of stress was worth it. He's right, figuring out Anand's work was a real task as his work was not briefed or explained to anyone when he passed away. I can only imagine the pain of his family losing him at such young age.
Once the meeting was dismissed, we all got back to our work. "Wow man! A compliment from Ayaan Baksh!!" Stan exclaimed. "I know right! He's a coding genius himself. He was the topper of his college and if he's impressed.. congrats dude!" Sreesha added. Wow! How come I've never heard of him. Oh yeah! I never tried to take my eye of my book. "Yeah! Teach me how to do that okay?" Tarun asked as he bumped onto my chair with his. This guy I tell you! Always rolls around on his chair. " One day I'll remove those wheels, I swear!" Dhrithi spoke, irritated as she stopped him from rotating in his chair making him whine.
" I can't believe its another weekend without overtime. All thanks to you and your ideas!" Dhrithi squealed and I chuckled. "Babe, let's go for ice cream once we drop her off?" Dhrithi asked expectedly looking over at Avinash as he took a left turn. Over the month, Avinash had been dropping me off along with Dhrithi. He comes to office to drop her off everyday even though cab service is available. Avinash is particular about Dhrithi's safety and moreover this is the only time they get to spend together. And Dhrithi being the stubborn kid she is, made me cancel my cab as she wanted to drop me off on her way home overlooking my hesitation and thousand pleas. Avinash didn't bother as well and so I gave in but I have been having a fun time. Both of them live near Ayaan's house too, which according to them is what made their bond strongest as they used to always spent time together. "And Amyra, I'm not inviting you over for ice cream because I want you to spend as much time as you can with your husband because you are coming with me this weekend. I know its really short notice and that's because these stupid men couldnt make up their minds and you have to come!" She ordered as she peeped over the centre console to face me. "I-" "No, no, no! I'll speak to your husband for you but I want you to come okay? A friend of ours have started this awesome place in Auli and- Oh man! Im so excited!!" She jumped up and down in her seat until Avinash asked her to calm her down saying he can't control the wheels. "I don't know Dhrithi... I would have to check..." I trailed off even though I would love to take a trip to Auli. Once I got out of the car, biding my byes, Dhrithi yelled "Text me with a yes! We are leaving at six in the morning!" and I gave her a thumbs up.
