Amyra's POV

Its been few days since Ayaan's birthday and I am slowly recovering from that day but my time at office made sure I didn't feel all too good. I'm still unsure as to why people are indirectly hostile towards me. They have been more taunting ever since I had to finally reveal my separation from Kaif. Even people that were nice to me before are a bit hostile and uncompassionate with me and seemed annoyed with whatever I do. I still cant fathom why Kavitha was annoyed at me for just using the coffee machine. "You don't think you own the place already now do you?" Her voice played in my head over and over again the whole night. Drithi said im just overthinking and that she was just joking which contradict to the glare she was passing Kavitha's way throughout the rest of the shift. It was yet another weekend that I decided to not go home as I had the appointment with the attorney. My thoughts were broken when my phone started ringing. "Ammi!" I answered the call. "How did it go Ammu?" She asked anxious. "Ammi, everythings fine. Mr Kirshna agreed to take the case and he said he'd send the legal notice in a day or two" I informed her. "And did you mention about the-" she couldn't bring herself to complete it. "No Ammi. I-" I couldn't complete when the door bell interrupted me and I was thankful that I didn't have to carry on that conversation. "Ammi, someone's at the door. I'll call you back" I told her. "What if it's him. Ammu dont hang up" She said worried. "Ammi relax. I'll call you back" I hung up the call moving towards the door as I already had a hijab from when I went out.

I peeked through the peephole to find Zeenath aunty. I opened the door and she restlessly grabbed my arms. "Amyra you should come with me now! Please please come with me!" She said hurriedly as she pulled me along with her leaving me with the chance to only close the door. She rapidly pressed on the call buttons of the escalator. I was starting to get worried. "Aunty what happened?! Is Ayaan okay? Or is it Zayaan? Are you okay?" I tried guessing while she hurriedly pulled me inside the lift wiping away her sweat. Is she ignoring me. "Aunty?" I called her again she sort of looked perplexed answering me. "I dont know... what do I do now... I should have thought this through. I'm really sorry" She said. "What happened aunty?" I repeated myself. "Ayaan's Dada and Dadi are here" She said as we reached thirteenth floor. The door opened and I followed her to the flat. The door was open and my eyes landed on an old couple sitting on the couch. This must be Ayaan's Dada and Dadi. "Asalamu alaikam" I greeted guessing they will appreciate it and I'm guessing they did from the smile they are giving me as  they walked towards me. "Walaikum salaaaaaaam" Ayaan's dadi responded dearly as she pulled me into a hug. Both of them seems really sweet I'm not understanding Zeenath aunty's current behaviour. "So this is our Bahu!" Ayaan's Dada ji exclaimed. On no no no no... my eyes widened in realisation of what was happening. I quickly pulled back to look at Zeenath aunty whose eyes were holding helpless pleas. "Well atleast my grandson's wife seems to be nice. We weren't lucky with my son" Ayaan's Dadi stated shocking me. Hearing that, Zeenath aunty looked down, saddened by the statement, well who wouldn't? That is really rude and harsh but why would they say that about someone like Zeentha aunty. She's so nice but she seemed very used to this. Dont they actually like her? The people from the party were also really hostile towards her. Well it's not really the time to think about that Amyra, what are we going to do about this situation!? "Um.. Mummy ji, Daddy ji why dont you take some rest. You must be tired" Zeentha aunty suggested. "And I suppose we should rest on the couches?" Ayaan's Dada ji sneered. Why are they being so harsh on her, she's being so polite. "No no, come, I'll show you to your room." She said as she advanced to the hallway. "And Bahu, I hope you'll still not be in the park when we are back" that sounded like a warning coming from Ayaan's Dadi and I gulped but nodded nonetheless. Okay! This is not going to be easy.

I looked up to find Zayaan worriedly looking at me. I went towards where he stood. "Is your brother home?" I asked him surprising myself considering there were many other questions on my mind. "Sorry Di for what is happening. I know it's too much to ask but if possible please help Ammi. Dadu-Dadi hates her. I'm not sure how they'll react when they learn that Ammi made up such a lie" Zayaan looked down disheartened. I have only seen this kid goofy and cheerful so seeing him like this breaks my heart. He cares so much for his mother but why would they even hate her? She is so nice with them too. I noticed her coming back, discreetly wiping away her tears "Amyra, I'm really sorry but I'll fix this. Please give me some time and I'll speak to them. I'll tell them the truth but just give me some time or they'll not spare me. I will fix this once I tell them the truth you will be out of this and-" aunty's low voice was interrupted when Ayaan came bursting in through the front door. "Yaan, bacha, I promise I'll tell them the truth and she'll be fine. You'll be fine too. It was me who had lied. Please dont be mad" She was literally pleading with him while he looked enraged and conflicted seeing his mother so helpless and pleading. My eyes were welled up from seeing all this helplessness. I am a cause of all of this.

"Ammi, I know I dont speak to you like this but why the fu-why the hell am I being tagged on tweets and posts declaring my marriage?!" He shouted angrly clenching his fist and jaw as he held out his phone for all of us to see. I was shocked when I could see one of my old photos and Ayaan's side by side on the screen. "Bhayya please, Dada-Dadi will hear. Please calm down. They have already given Ammi an earful about you supposedly marrying without their knowledge" Zayaan requested as he took the phone from Ayaan and read out " Ayaan Baksh no longer a bachelor, the CEO of Sky HQ is revealed to have been secretly married to a woman named Amyra Siddique from Instagram posts published by family members. The 28 year old-" Zayaan stopped reading as I grabbed his hand to stop. "What now Ammi? You should realise its not just me, I dont want this girl to suffer more than what she have because of us. This news will reach my office staffs, she works there. She's already put on the spot just because of people's nasty minds and now we give them this and they'll make her life living hell!" He shouted again and I winced. "Ammi, im sorry but I honestly dont know what to do. There will be speculations and more attention if I say it's false news along with God knows what would happen inside the family from revelation. Not to mention that she's already freaking married!" I closed my eyes when he kept shouting. Although he's talking about all the problems im going to have, my mind is stuck on what would happen to Zeenat aunty if we reveal the truth.

"What is all this noise about? Ayaan's Dada Ji's voice came as we notice him walk towards us, I hope he did not hear anything that Ayaan said. "The kids were just playing Daddy JI" Zeenath aunty covered up as she quickly wiped her face. Apparently he doesn't hear much seeing how he bought it not before rolling eyes at aunty. "Ayaan beta, you are back from office?" He asked happily as he came forward and hugged Ayaan who tried to fake a smile and hugged him back. "How was the flight Dadu?" Ayaan asked and they continued talking so I excused myself to leave. I need some fresh air. "Where are you going bahu?" Came his voice. Allah! I gulped before turning back. "Um.. just sitting on the couch um..da-dadu" I answered, hoping that was the right thing to call him as I looked at Ayaan and our eyes met for the first time today and I didn't know what to do. He seemed clueless too as it took him a couple of seconds before he gestured me to wait. And I waited, my mind all bogus about what I should do about this.

I waited till after dinner when Dadu-Dadi slept. I was all alone with just them but I was extremely grateful that they didn't ask anything about the marriage or about me. They mostly talked about their marriage and how they met and said they've learned a lot about me even without asking me anything leaving me confused. Meanwhile Zeenath aunty had left with Zayaan which earned a lot of disgusting remarks and accusation from Dadu and Dadi but she seemed determined to go and she did. Ayaan has stormed off when he received a call. I didn't even have my phone on me so it was basically just me and my thoughts. The anxiety growing in me and the cluelessness to the situation kept growing on me with each passing minute. It was eight thirty in the night and now finally as they slept, I slowly and carefully sneeked out of the house. I quickly ran down the stairs thankfully the stairways and hallways are not dark. By the time I reached my flat I was out of breath. I quickly got inside, locked the door behind me and rushed into the kitchen. I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and gulped down the entire thing. I plopped down on the kitchen floor catching my breath. What is happening to me Allah? Why is all of this happening to me? And why dont I have the strength to do anything about this?

I was so tired as I cried when suddenly my phone started ringing. I quickly got up frantically searching for my phone. I want to talk to Ammi. Maybe she'll help me. Once I located my phone on the dining table from when I left it, I quickly answered it. It was Dhrithi. "Thank God you picked up. Ayaan she picked up" I hear her shouting the latter part. "Amu, are you okay? Where are you?" She asked worried. "I'm in my flat now" I answered sniffing. "Are you crying? Amyra, please dont cry. I'm sorry for all thats happening. We'll find some way out. Just dont cry okay?" She said, concern evident in her voice and I hummed in response. "Okay? so where is Ayaan's grandparents?" She asked. "They are sleeping in Ayaan's flat" I responded wiping my eyes. "Okay.. cool .. okay so you stay in your flat okay? We are coming there. Is Ammi there yet?" She asked. "Who?" I asked unsure who she's referring to. "Okay nevermind, we'll be there in some time okay? It'll be fine" She said before hanging up. A heavy sigh left my lips. Theres too much to process. I checked my phone to see thirty five missed calls from Zeenath aunty, Ammi, Dhrithi, Abhi, Zayaan, Kevin and some random number. I dialled Ammi's number. Why is she not picking up! I called back Zeenath aunty but she appears to be not reachable. Maybe taking a shower would be the best thing to do now. I felt exhausted as grabbed my clothes and hoped under the shower.
