Genesis

What lies ahead.

TWO DAYS OF DRIVING in silence had put Melissa to believe she was actually dead and in hell. She often had to remind herself that at least she was alive and there. They were all grieving their loses, Jacqui's more recent one had hit too close for the group and they were yet getting used to it.

The caravan of five cars had been reduced to three to save some fuel and space, Rick's car, Dale's RV and Daryl's beloved motorcycle. While Rick's and Carol's family comfortable drove in Rick's car, the rest crowded into the RV. Melissa just knew they were all done with each other by today's morning.

Melissa had been staring through the dirty side window at the booth when Shane decided to squeeze her in. Dale drove, Glenn sat on the passenger seat while reading a map, T was taking a nap and Andrea sat in front of Melissa, staring at the absolute nothing. Her right arm rested atop the table, even though she had no painkillers to calm the pain, it didn't hurt as much as before, the cast totally smoothed the pain—unless she would accidentally hit some cabinet o corner.

Shane pulled some guns from the duffle bag at his side and started to clean them, catching the attention of both bored blondes. He looked up when he felt their piercing stare—in their defense, there was not much to do.
