A map was spread across the table in cell block C. Melissa leaned over it, one hand tracing spots marked in red while the other held Judith's tiny hand. The baby's fingers wrapped tightly around her thumb as she drank her bottle, seated snugly in a baby chair they'd salvaged on a previous run. Judith was an early riser, thanks to her father's habit of waking with the sun. But today, Melissa had taken on the morning shift, giving Beth and Luna a rare chance to sleep in.

Standing beside her, Michonne studied the map with a sharp, thoughtful gaze. Her sword rested against the table, a silent testament to how she was always ready for what lay beyond their walls. Red marks showed where they'd already searched, narrowing their options.

"We've been through here and here," Melissa said, pointing at two crossed-out locations. "If we cut through Goggins, we can hit Macon next."

Michonne nodded, her eyes sweeping the map one last time. "Yeah, that works." She drained the last of her coffee, her movements brisk as always. "I'll prep the horses. We'll leave before noon." She turned sharply, already heading toward the cells to get ready.

"Mich," Melissa called after her.

The samurai paused mid-step, turning back with a knowing look. She had expected this. Melissa was always ready to tackle the dangers outside the gates, but once home, it became harder to pull her back out. The love she felt for the people inside these walls was something Michonne both admired and understood—it was the kind of bond that could tether even the most restless soul.
