Better angels.

                   GRIEF HAD BEEN swirling in Melissa Grimes' life for a long time now. It started with Grandma's death, then mom's, then her dog, Dexter and so on.

It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know.

Dale had changed Melissa's life forever.

The sky was bluer than ever, her eyes were bright with old tears and a red sat comfortingly in the rim of them. She stared down at the fresh grave, marked with a cross and his name. Besides her stood Carol and Glenn and behind them was Daryl, standing one step away from the group.

"Dale could get under your skin." Rick began with a broken sadly voice, "He sure got under mine."

Melissa hadn't cry in hours but she still found herself surprised at how easy it had become, how weak and soft her heart had turned to be. How welcoming to anyone that wanted an in. She didn't like that. It hurt too much.
