A clock Makarov left was counting down the time until the S-class candidates could start.

(Tick-tock)

The tension was high. Everyone already had a plan to get to their destination quickly.

(Tick-tock)

Except for Touma.

He used logic to deduce that, as long as he didn't take all day, he wouldn't be kicked. The S-class trials were working on an elimination system.

Of you failed, you were out. So theoretically, everyone could be S-class.

(Tick-tock)

So Touma didn't plan on hurrying.

Index, however, had different plans.

(Ring, ring, ring, ring)

Everyone rushed out, while Index took Touma and flew him straight over there, making the Illusion slayer first.

(Opening theme)

Touma:(mind) Well... Nothing I can do about it now.

Arriving first thanks to the flight of Index, Touma had first pickings of which cave he could go through.

On paper, Touma could go up against anyone and have a fair shot at winning, since his Imagine Breaker could negate all forms of Magic.

But the harsh reality was that there was no way for him to get out unharmed.

It's true, he had gone up against many of his guildmates who wish to test their might against the Illusion Slayer.

Though it still happened every day, the S-class wizards were never part of that.

He had fought Erza on several occasions, but not often enough to be confident in defeating her 100% of the time. His previous blessing was now screwing him over, somewhat.

Mirajane, back when she was a rebellious punk, who sadistically toyed with everyone, had sparred with the Illusion slayer, but it had now been years since she and he fought in any way.

The third opponent was either Misaka or Mystogan. The ladder of which was someone that Touma barely knew anything about.

Only that he used magic weapons, but that was the limit to his knowledge.

And then there was Guildarts.

Touma had been taught many things from that man in teen clothing.

How to punch....how to take a hit... How to make girls fall in love with you... The last one was something Touma had never intentionally tried.

Not only did Guildarts probably know everything Touma could do, but he had the power to keep him at a distance.

Distance, being Touma's weakness in combat.

Thinking carefully, Touma chose Erza to fight, so he entered the cave with the sign that had "E" written on it.

Unfortunately, the labeled signs didn't tell who was inside it, they were just there to mess with them.

Dashing deep into the cave, Touma entered a massive opening to discover that he had received the wors case scenario.

He was up against Guildarts.
