Soul Mate A.U. Pt. 1 (B.B.)

Jumping on the whole Black and White until you meet your soulmate idea.

You are with Steve, despite the fact that you don't see in color. What happens though, when you do end up meeting the one the universe says was made just for you?

I met the Avengers about a year ago. They saved me when I was fighting to get loose from a Hydra group who wanted to experiment on me. As the base was attacked I fought my damnedest to get out, and was saved by Natasha and Wanda. Then as we boarded their jet I met the rest of the team.

When I met Steve something clicked for us. But sadly, neither of us saw color - meaning we aren't soul mates. The attraction and draw to each other was so powerful we said screw it and started dating. Maybe we will never meet our soul mates, some people never do.

We became happy with one another, content with a life in black and white. Our chemistry was amazing, and our sex life was even better. So we settled into an otherwise perfect relationship. We fought side by side, and slept the same way.

Then the Winter Soldier was on our trail. I hadn't gotten a good look at him yet; due to him trying to kill us so Steve was protecting me.

I was placed behind Steve as he charged the masked soldier. This guy was ruthless. They kept fighting, then Steve flipped him and his mask fell off - revealing his face. Steve fell from his aggressive stance to stand up with a confused look on his face. He recognized him as his childhood best friend; Bucky Barnes.

I laid eyes on him, his emotionless eyes met mine. But then suddenly I saw they were gorgeous. My world turned to color. He paused as his eyes went slightly wide. But then he was knocked down and fired at. I tried to snap out of it as we were surrounded.

Maria got us out of what would be Hydra's possession. Steve pulled himself out of his daze about Bucky being alive, and cupped my face in his hands. God he was beautiful in color. But God, how do I tell him? I just met my soulmate, sort of. And not only is it someone else, who is an evil super soldier. But it is his childhood best friend. I can't tell him.

"Are you alright, sweet girl?" He asked softly. I nodded, "I'm fine. Barely took any hits, and no bullets. How about you? I mean... it's Bucky." He nodded slowly, "All I know is I want to save him. I need to get him back." "What if you can't?" I asked bluntly.

Bucky slipped through our fingers. He slipped into the wind for two years. There was no talk about the Winter Soldier until the bombing of the meeting for the signing of the accords. Then all hell broke loose. Tony sided against us, and against saving Bucky.

When Steve found him again I wasn't able to be normal. So I kept my distance at first. Just being near him was hard. There was a serious pull toward him, a desire I couldn't stop. I needed to talk to him, see if he feels it too or if he wants to give this a try. We're made for each other after all. So I asked him to meet with me outside our little motel while we laid low after their fight with Tony.

We have shared so many confusing glances; longing as we fought the connection. I walked over to him as he stood near the trees in the shadows.  "Hey, James." He smirked, "I kind of like that name coming from you. It's cute." I laughed, "Even though you are very much 'Bucky', I'm thinking I like James." He looked down at me sweetly, "Whatever you want to call me, doll."

I bit my lip nervously, "I feel so guilty. I keep waiting for Steve to notice that I'm different. The world can be very overwhelming in color. Especially at first. I need to tell him." I said softly. He cupped my cheek gently in his flesh hand. I nuzzled into it slightly. I liked how it felt when he touched me, it was different than with Steve. "We could do it together." He offered. I sighed, "It's just that it's been so long with me lying to him, you know? Years. It's going to kill him."
