I watch in horror as the gates are unbolted to let the cars in, from what I can see the entire pack is surrounded by a barbed wire fence. If this is what the alpha does to nature, what does he do to his pack, what will he do to me.

"Get out now." The driver barks at me, it doesn't matter if I'm the moon goddess blessed Luna of his pack, I'm a runt which automatically puts me at the bottom of the pack.

Nodding frantically, I snatch up my bag and struggle to open up the car door. Finally it swings open but it catches me off guard so I fly out the door with it and land on the floor in a shock.

As I brush myself back to my feet, I can hear my driver laughing at my useless display and my pale skin flushes with embarrassment.

"Runt." My mate barks at me, I whip my head around and take notice of him standing a few feet away from me. Out of the corner of my eye I can see the beta walking away towards the main cluster of houses within the pack.

Sighing, I hang my head and limp over to the fuming darkness that is my mate. Once I make it over to him, I look up at him with big, blinking eyes. My wolf and I have both accepted that we can't get close to him, that we don't want to get close to him but it's still hard to swallow. It's engrained into our brains that we want our mate to approve of us, to love us but he doesn't and he never will.

"Come with me." His voice is flat, like he's ordering a dog after him. Reluctantly I follow him regardless of my pride, it's not like I have anywhere else to go right now.

My mate still hasn't properly spoken to me or even properly looked at me so I decide in that moment to call him alpha instead of mate, he's not my mate.

"This is my house." He explains curtly as he opens the door to an extravagant house.

I still don't speak, I just pad after the alpha as he leads me up the stairs without even giving me a chance to look around my new existence.

"This," he opens the door to a dingy looking room, "will be your room."

He steps into the room and I follow him without complaint, if anything I'm glad that I don't have to share a room with him. Well I was glad, until I saw the room in the light.

It's dark, dingy and bare. The only furniture is a wire frame bed with a mattress that looks older than this house. A small whine escapes me, courtesy of my wolf, which makes alpha turn and look at me, a smirk of delight written on his face about my discomfort.

"Leave your shit here mutt and then follow me."

I'm so horrified and shocked with the way I'm being treated by the other part of my soul. I've even lost the ability to process my thoughts and words.

I can hear alpha thudding down the landing so I hastily stumble after him. Without realising it, alpha has stopped and I slam into his back.

He lets out a growl of fury as I fall to the floor from the force of running into a wall. I whine as I land awkwardly on my wrist and hear it pop. I know that if I heard the cracking of the bone, alpha has too but he doesn't even bat an eyelid.
